First time to HH - can anyone give me an idea on where I should request a studio. Our kids are young, so I'm thinking we may want to be near the pool. Or as OKW every location is a good one!

I would suggest a building towards the back of the resort. Our favorite is room 2814 which is in building 28. Building 30 also has a studio in it. Buildings 28 and 30 are next to each other so you could request 28 or 30 as your first and second choice. We like the back of the resort because there is less traffic than upfront and its closer to the pool which would be a great advantage with kids.We already have requested our room for next August in building 30. :D

In my opinion, Bldg 18 is the best - midway between the Lodge and the pool and it has a marsh view. But I would make multiple bldg requests -or a view request. I made a reservation 11 months out to the day for bldg 18 and when I checked in they said it wasn't available and I got a studio in the lodge. I didn't mind the lodge so much but it feels more like a hotel and was much noisier than a smaller villa unit (and pretty far from the pool). So give them a few options when making a request...

I would prefer a view facing the Marina. The only other view is the Marsh and Broad Creek. That being said you may have some late night music from the small groups that play at the restaurants across the marina from you. We stayed in an Inn Room at the main lodge on the 3rd floor and it was no more than a 3 minute walk to the pool from the farthest point in the resort. The resort is small enough to make everything very accessible. There is a shuttle bus to the beach house 1 1/2 miles away - or you can drive there easily. Bike paths are available as well, but I would check the route first to see if you feel it is appropriate for the age of your children.

Is the main lodge march view? If not, where are the marsh view studios? We requested marsh view, since we're birders. Wondering what buildings that might be.

Birdwatching is one of my wifes favorite activities at Hilton Head. We always request building 18 for the marsh view and the abundance and variety of birds to enjoy from the back porch. It is also centrally located but seems very quiet since it is about as far from parking as you can get at this very compact resort. The only drawback in being in any studio not in the lodge you will be on the first floor with a 3 bedroom unit above you.

If you look at the overhead pictures of Hilton Head that are available in the members guide book - and I think are available on the Official Disney WEbsite you can see the bridge leading up to the resort and the Main Lodge which is almost at the end of the bridge. The marina is right near the bridge and what I call a Marsh view or view of Broad Creek is on the opposite side of the island from the marina and bridge. Try this link and pick the resorts option for a view of Hilton Head DVC. Hope it works.

I was reading in the member guide last night that most of the studios are located in Bldg. 11 & 12. Should I even put in a request for a bldg. near the pool?

I don't mind being on the 1st floor, but I don't think I would want to be in the lodge since someone said it's like being in a hotel. I'm wondering if I shouldn't have gotten a 1-bedroom. But too late now!

Thanks again everyone!!!

There are a total of 21 studios and the same number of 1BR villas.

16 of each are located in buildings 11 and 12 (lodge area) and the others are found beneath one of the 5 GV's.

Enjoy!
