We will be in WDW in sept and I know sports is being renovated so I wondering what the best building/room would be. We have preferred room and I wanted to know if it was worth it. Anyone have any info?

well baseball has been rehabbed!:cool1: or at least one building.

I don't think preferred is worth it at all.

I, on the other hand, think preferred is worth it! At the end of the day when my feet are killing me....I want the closest room possible.

And when we go to our rooms to get our refillable mugs and back down to the food court........I wanna be closer!!

To each their own!

Main Pool will be closed in Sept. So no preferred will not be worth it. During ASMovies pool refurb, you could hear the bulldozers and backhoes. Especially the reverse beeping. Yikes!!

I loved my room, it was preferred in the Surf's up section but down a corrider so it was away from the pool noise but still close to everything. The main pool is closing (refurbishment) though so you might want to consider that.

As I walked around I did not think any of the buildings were too far to walk to the main action. The two places I did not like were the football section (I can imagine loud football games all night long) and the baseball (they had the brightest stadium lights on at night) very blinding. We tried out the pool there, smaller than the main and on a crowded night might be a welcome retreat.

my son's going there Aug 26-31 and I selected ASSp on purpose for the sports theme, etc. Since then I haven't read anything about that resort. :confused3

People talk about ASMu and ASMo and Pop but almost nothing about ASSp. Is there a reason for this? Just curious.

thanks!

We love that ASsports and even Music are not as popular as Movies and Pop, less people less wait to check in. My DD23 is going to Disney next month and is upset that they won't be staying at Allstars. There weren't any FL or AP Rates for the time she is going so she is going to CS, but she's as happy about it. Your son will love Sports.

Thanks, DisneyWisher! You've eased my mind. This is DS19's first trip without us - so I guess I'm a little anxious :)

On July 13th, we stayed in a very recently refurbished room in building 9 of the Homerun Hotel. On maps, this looks very distant from the main building. Not so! This is much closer than our room in building 4 of Center Court during our last stay. We had a partial view of the Grand Slam pool. The food court was just a short, scenic walk. Since we could walk around the perimeter of the resort buildings, the bus stops were extremely close! The best part was that this was very quiet. The interior of the resort was filled with Brazilian teenage tour groups. While they were well-behaved, they would congregate around the main pool and Touchdown area during the evening hours.

hey again - the new pictures are here - july 13 & july 14..

they are doing a rehab on All stars sports. and it is a BIG change. definitely more upscale.

I can't say whether or not the Preferred rooms are worth it. I have only ever stayed on property once (Second time is coming up in 43 days!!!), and that time it -was- in Preferred at ASMu.

That being said, though, I had originally booked a standard room on my last trip, and upon check in, we were told we were upgraded to the Preferred room. :cool1: Yes, we were there in Value season, and are going again in Value season. Once again, this time around, we've booked a standard at ASMu, and will be happy whether or not we're upgraded. Granted, we're three adults with no children to have to carry back to the room at the end of a long day! ;)
