It will just be my husband and I going to WDW for the first time, and I want to do 2 romantic signature restaurants while we are there.

Right now we are doing Jiko and California Grill, but I am thinking of changing my California Grill reservation! We would like a restaurant that is on the quieter side, and more romantic. It seems as though many reviewers think that California Grille has amazing food but is extremely loud with LOTS of kids.

Is it worth it? Should I keep it as is, or switch to something else? Suggestions please!!! (on the DDP) (Our reservation for Cali Grille is at 7:45, no other times available)

We love Citricos. While there may be some children there, it is a lot quieter than California Grill. The food and service are both outstanding. ::MinnieMo

Got to agree with the above poster - CG is not romantic with the possible exception of while fireworks are going off. For a complete romantic evening we like Artist Point, Jiko, Yachtsman or Citrico's, and might add Bistro de Paris to that list.

thanks for the replies so far! does anyone have any experience with Flying Fish? Is Narcossees similar to the "non romanticish" atmosphere of the cali grill?

We love the food at Artist Point and feel it is one of the quietest restarants.

My wife thinks that Nacosses was second in romance to an evening at LeCellie. I enjoyed both but think Narcosses has better food.

I didn't care for Cali Grill when I saw it.

I suppose it depends on what you consider romantic. Personally, I LOVE Cali Grill and found it to be quite romantic. Stylish surroundings, amazing food. Of course, we were there on Valentine's Day, with a window-side table, during Wishes... it was incredible. I will admit that quiet it was not and there were certainly tables of (well-behaved) children.

I would agree with some of the pp. Cali Grill isn't very romantic. I vote for Narcoossees. It is right on the water. You can see the fireworks if you plan it that way.

FF food is good but it is loud and often crowded.Late on a weeknight duing offpeak it would maybe make my romantic list.
AP food is good but not really that romantic unless you are outdoorsy kind of people, pretty quiet when we have dined there.

We are trying Jiko on 6/30,pix look like it will be quiet.

AP is quiet, and the ambience is superb. Food is generally superb, as is the service. After the meal, you can stroll around the grounds of WL, sit on the beach, catch glimpses of Wishes, see the EWP on Bay Lake. It would be my choice.

I think Citricos is the most low-key of the signatures and therefore has the most potential for a romantic meal. It's also my favorite signature for food and service.

No, they don't have the view that CG does, but if you time your ADR correctly, you can eat and then walk down to the GF dock and watch the fireworks there. Plus, Citricos is generally easy to get an ADR for, even at the last minute.

I voted for California Grill. I was torn between CG and Narcoosee's. I gave CG the edge because of the view from the top of the tower. Also, I think the food is better at CG. Narcoosee's is lovely though, especially because of the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Citricos has food every bit as good as California Grill, but I found it to be richer (heavier cream, butter, etc.). I felt light and happy after eating at California Grill--which is preferable to me.

Also, I did not like the decor at Citricos. The chairs are big and comfortable (which is a plus!), but I felt like I was sitting in the middle of a hotel lobby. There was nothing romantic about it to me. We had a window table, but for some reason, I felt like I was on display--there was no privacy. Perhaps the lights were too bright. It almost felt like an airport lounge. I just did not like it.

I voted for Flying Fish, even tho it's not traditionally quiet & romantic. DH & I have eaten at both the High Bar & Low Bar there & both nights were wonderful. We find it romantic just to have a nice meal together on vacation tho. I think the Low Bar is now reserved for the Chef's Table tasting menu tho.

I would also recommend Citrico's. I have only been there once, with a friend (am taking DH this Fall) But of all the Signatures (we've done all but Yachtsman) it is the most quiet & comfortable. The food & service were impeccable. It is the adr I am most looking forward to on this trip.

AP. Jiko would have been my other choice but you already have that on your list. CG can be crowded and loud. It has great food that is always changing and a good view of the fireworks. AP is going to be quieter and more intimate. The menu doesn't change that much with the salmon and some bison dish served all the time. While the menu doesn't change the dishes are well prepared. (Also try the portabello soup.)

wow, I have a lot to think about now! It seems as though many people like Citricos and Artist Point, which I was not expecting! What a tough decision! I am going to have to look over these menus.

I voted Yachtsman because I hadn't seen as many replies about it. Last December we ate at Narcoosees, Artist Point & Yachtsman. Narcoosees was good and has a romantic location beside the seven seas lagoon. Also we had a perfect dockside bench for viewing the fireworks over the MK after dinner. But it was my least favorite meal of the 3. Wilderness Lodge is beautifully decorated for the holidays and was worth the trip over there just for that. Our food at Artist Point was excellent and our most quiet dinner of the week. Our attentive server also had a lot to do with our experience there. Getting to the Yachtsman Steakhouse involves a romantic stroll into the Yacht Club. Normally it is quiet there but there were some noisy children with families that were there almost our entire mealtime. Our waiter apologized to us after they had left. Again, our food was excellent. We were paying out of pocket for meals as we prefer more appetizers and soups over desserts. This was our most expensive meal (adding in the cost of a cocktail for DH and wine for each of us.)

We're repeating Artist Point & Yachtsman this December and adding in Flying Fish & Jiko. Have yet to try CA Grill - not a sushi lover.

Unless it's changed I think the most romantic on the dining plan isn't on that poll.
My vote would be Jiko!!

(Last I knew it was 2 credits but it is on the dining plan.)

"Romantic" is the thing that makes this tough. If you mean reasonably quiet by Disney standards, only Citrico's would pass the test. And that CAN have tons of kids as well if you happen to be unlucky that evening.
Same with the CG wine room--nice and quiet most times EXCEPT if they happen to have several families with kids in there.
