Best rides for kids at DL?

My 3 year old loved pirates! This depends on your son of course but for mine the TOT was too intense of a ride to take on at 5. Funny thing is that they will surprise you too. One of mine absolutely hated the buzzlight year ride which was really unexpected. I would just have an open mind but be okay if he decides not to try something. Also the rides in bugs land are a good place to start! Have fun, 5 is such a great age for DL.

Funny! I get motion sick on Star Tours too! I LOVE Star Wars too so it's always a bummer!

As other said, it depends on your child! I took my oldest when he was 6 and he rode almost everything except for that big roller coaster in CA Adventure (he was too short). He absolutely loved the "thrill" rides like Matterhorn, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder the most. But for a 5 year old, there's hardly anything he CAN'T ride!

Toontown and Fantasyland will probably be your best bets. I love Jungle Cruise and a lot of kids get a real kick out of Haunted Mansion (thinking it's an 'adult' ride). CA has a lot of traditional rides that they might like, such as the silly symphony swings. The train, small world, and Mark Twain are great for when they get tuckered out in the afternoon and just want to rest for a while.

DD4 liked TOT, didn't love it, but didn't hate it, but what she did hate was Big Thunder, she refused, flat out refused to go on that again, only ride she has ever done that with. Her fav is Haunted Mansion, Dumbo and Carousel, those we ride several and I mean several times a day

Have fun!!

I used to also thing I would NEVER get motion sickness on a ride. EVER. And then the new Star Tours came along xD. Then again, the Simpson's ride at Universal Studios makes me pretty sick too. For kids, I would pretty much recommend almost everything that is NOT a Fastpass ride. Why? Fastpass rides seem to be more "thriller" like, and I would only do them if you think your kid can handle them.

Be wary of the dark rides in FL. Even today, Snow White, Mr. Toad, and Pinocchio scare the bajeebus out of me, but I ride them anyways because they are original Disney.
