My family and I (DH, 2 DS 13 & 15) are regular disney vacationeers and have another vacation planned 08/23/06-09/01/06 so I'm in the process of making my ADR's. I've been reading the restaurant thread for some time and want to know what restaurants have the best sized portions. I always read threads where people split meals and get huge portions that they can never finish. WHERE??. My family has never been able to do this, even when my sons were smaller. My youngest son stopped ordering off of the childrens menu when he was 8. We always plan on one TS a day and we don't do the DP because the snacks are a joke (the only thing an ice cream bar would do for my sons is make them mad :rotfl2: )

So where are all these meals that people are able to split? I would love to cut down on my food budget.

I've noted an inverse relationship between the price of items on the restaurant's menu and the size of the portions: The finer restaurants seem to have portions that are reasonable for ONE person, and even then often leave more than enough room for that one person to order an appetizer and a dessert. The baser restaurants seem to have portions that are far more than I should ever eat at one sitting, and that's just the entree.

My son and I split a meal (fried chicken) at 50s Prime Time and it was plenty for both of us. We did, however, order milkshakes to go with our meals.

They had no problem with it. In fact, if I was able to get another ADR at Prime Time next month I would do it again!!! I really enjoy this restaurant! Good food and great atmosphere! :thumbsup2

Some people are bigger eaters than others. I've never been to a restaurant at Disney where I couldn't have comfortably shared all three course with my DH and been satisfied. You've never been to one where that is possible.

Just as the person b4 me said some people are bigger eaters then others:P we always order our own plates and usually finish everything...we LOVE to eat :Pinkbounc

planet hollywood :thumbsup2 , we were talking about sharing here.

PH definitely share the LA Lasagna! It is huge!

with the exception of rainforest cafe, i think most entrees alone would be hard to be filled up on if you shared. husband and i did share an appe., entree and dessert at BD. LeCeillier, RFC, pizza fari( that was a regular pizza, a dessert pizza and a beverage so it basically gave us each a small pizza). those same days we had room for a counter service meal and more importantly, some yummy snack when we did that. husband probably could have eaten the whole thing but he liked the snack later idea so was willing to go along with splitting

to make a comparison of eating, we don't care for buffets cause we never really get good value from them and usually i'll take home 1/2 of my entree when we go out if i have a salad or soup before hand and rarely get dessert. on vacation anywhere we usually get one light and one ts type meal and husband eats granola bars to keep from fainting from hunger  between :)
