We have a trip planned during our Sons 2nd birthday,

I was just wondering where the best place to have his birthday meal is.

I was thinking Chef Mickey's, Anyone done a toddler birthday at Disney with advice?

thanks:cool1:

We did chef Mickey's dinner for our DD's 2nd b-day. The characters were so rushed and our waitress tried to corral them over towards our table while DD was blowing out her birthday cake candles but they were so preoccupied they just swung the little napkins at her and kept going. We were dissapointed but DD was too young to feel slighted. On contrast, we went to Cape May Breakfast buffet with Mickey and friends for DD's 3rd b-day and DD got so much attention from the characters (and waitstaff) it was like night and day.

Also, keep in mind I hear Mickey does not come to the table at Chef Mickey's anymore.

I would agree. Chef Mickey's is always a madhouse.

Outside the parks, the Cape May breakfast is a good one, and I would also suggest the Lilo & Stitch (and Mickey and Pluto) breakfast at Ohana - it is served family style, so no juggling plates at the buffet...

For dinner for a little guy, I would do Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom.
It's well-organized, and even at peak dining times we've found it to be as calm as is possible in a restaurant full of people. The characters are Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore - all somewhat popular with the under-5 set. (My nephew is 3 1/2, and he always asks for this one, "Pooh lunch!")

We had our boys 3rd birthday at CM's and it was wonderful. All of the characters came by and wished them happy birthday and either Mickey or Goofy (can't remember which) pretended to help blow out their candles.

It has been reported that Mickey not coming to tables was a short test by Disney which failed miserably...Mickey is coming to tables again.

What about Garden Grill? I hear that the character interaction is a bit better than Chef Mickey's.

Thanks for the advice about it being a little busy at Chef Mickey's,
We have eaten there (before we had our son) and I remember thinking it was a very busy place!

We are staying at the Boardwalk so I think we will do Cape May for Breakfast!
:cool1: :cool1:
I can book our dining in a few days so I was trying to decide what was best :)
Thanks!

Although we have never done Crystal Palace for a B-day I agree that the character interaction is so much better than at Chef Mickey's. It was actually very well organized and the characters spent a considerable amount of time with us. So that too would be a great choice for Pooh fans.

We're doing lunch at Crystal Palace on DS's 2nd birthday. We'll be at MK that day anyway, and I decided lunch was a safer choice - I can better predict his behavior earlier in the day. I don't want to count on a dinner celebration and then end up disappointed if he is "done" before dinner time.

We had a fabulous time at the Garden Grill with DD when she was 20 months. We saw each character twice, they spent a ton of time with her and Chip and Dale played around quite a bit. It was really great. And it's nice to have the food served family-style and not have to take turns going through a buffet with a toddler.

Definitely avoid Chef Mickey's for a birthday dinner. We've eaten there once and weren't celebrating anything. The food was mediocre at best and getting characters to our table was like pulling teeth. Won't do that again.

I think you're better off doing a character dinner anywhere else.

Chef Mickey's! I celebrated my birthday there and Donald came over and brought me my cupcakes (3). Plus at 2, the characters are great. Either that or Crystal Palace as DS(2) loves Pooh!
