Hi- I'm new here and just beginning to research our first trip to Disneyworld. I was wondering, in your opinion, what is the best resort (Value, Moderate, or Deluxe- whichever) for little ones (under 5) ? And why?

* I know everyone will have different opinions and that's fine- I'm most interested in the why.

Thanks!!:)

Hi and welcome!

I vote for the Contemporary (Deluxe)for one main reason: you can WALK to the Magic Kingdom!

Think of your little ones about to melt down, facing a 15 minute wait for a 20 minute bus... not a scenario I'm anxious to re-visit.

Now picture those same little ones either hopping on the next monorail or walking (ok, being pushed in a stroller) for 5-10 minutes before they get to their room or the pool.

We rented a 2 bedroom Deluxe in SS for our 12/08 visit. I wanted to stay at one right outside of MK but they were, frankly, too expensive and we had trouble getting one.

I wanted at least a 1 bedroom, though, as the thought of sharing a regular ole room with a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old was making me sweat. I just envisioned going to bed every night at 8pm because that's their bedtime.

We are sharing our 2 bedroom with my ILs since it was cheaper that way (than renting a 1 bedroom and a suite). Added bonus is that we have babysitters right there! :)

The guy we rented the Villa from suggested SS since the VWL was impossible/too expensive to get. I didn't want to stay at BCV or BWV as we don't plan on going to Epcot. I'm a little nervous about the bus thing at SS but we're hoping for the best and taking the "live and learn" approach. (We're going during value season)

We really liked Coronado Springs Resort, a moderate resort. DD who's been 3, 4, and 5 when we've stayed there, loves the pool and playground. She also likes the surrey bikes. Very kid friendly, but also a great atmosphere for adults. We love Maya Grill also, as did DD. Not sure if it still works this way, but CSR had their own shuttles (instead of sharing shuttles w/ other resorts) so it was very convenient. Another plus is that it's reasonably priced. Contemporary's the only deluxe we've stayed at and we liked that just fine, but we really love the atmosphere and scenery at CSR. Anyways, the kids will be so excited most of the time it doesn't make a difference where you stay. They're just happy to be at Disney!

We have stayed at all levels of the resorts and most of them in each level. My favorites, and the ones I recommend to the parents of small children, are the values. The values are just a fun place to be. The decorations and theming add to the fun. We've stayed at POP nine times and love it. If your children are into playing games or with toys, this is the place for you. There are several pools with daily activities for the little ones by the hippy dippy pool. If your child likes the Disney movies, ASMovies is the place for you. My children like music so naturally, ASMu was a big hit, even though DS is now 17 and DD is 16!!

The over exaggerated size of the resort decorations are amazing, especially if you are little. I was standing outside our room by the Big Wheel and a family walks around the corner facing the Big Wheel. The little boy started jumping up and down wanting to get on it. :lmao: He was too cute!!!

Thanks guys- I am really enjoying reading all these responses- Keep 'em coming!

Aliceacc- thanks so much for the link to your other thread- so helpful!!:thumbsup2
