Best Resorts for an Oct. studio waitlist?

Hi Everyone,

We are trying to stay at a DVC resort Oct. 9-12 but everything is booked. Besides Saratoga Springs, where is my next best bet for going on a waitlist? I can't find anything on the web as to how many studios are at each dvc resort (hoping to find where my odds would be best to waitlist). Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Lori

Use the waitlist, but keep calling once in awhile also. We were very lucky to get an AK Jambo studio last year for a weekend in Oct when we called in July.

SSR and OKW are going to have the best chance because these resorts have more studios than the others. You can only have 2 waitlists so these would be the 2 I'd pick if it was important to get that specific timeframe.

Your 3 best options would be SSR, OKW and AKV. If you can afford it points-wise, a 1 BR will be more likely to come available. Either way, I would waitlist for a Studio at SSR and OKW and call frequently about AKV availability. I would also book any available days, so if 1 night opens up at SSR book it and WL for the other 2 nights.

I just got a 1br SSR for 10/6-10/10. I wanted a studio for less points but I'm just happy we got something at this point. I would definately recommend calling often. I had called 3:00 Saturday afternoon & there was nothing available. I called Sunday a.m. when they opened to put us on a waitlist & the 1 br was available. You never know! Good luck, I can't wait for our first trip home.

Thanks for the advice! I can find the total number of villas for each resort, but not the break-down of types to find out who has the most studios --so I really appreciate the help. I would love to go for AKV, but sounds like I'm much better off waitlisting for OKW.

One more question I may post to the board... If I want 3 nights but the first night is over the Columbus Day weekend and a busy day to secure, am I better off waitlisting the last two nights (which should have a much better chance), then if they come through waitlisting the 1st night? I'm wondering if I would have better odds than requesting all 3 nights at once. Worst case might be that we would have to stay somewhere else that first night. Any thoughts?

Sincerely,
Lori

Go with OKW non-HH area studio. There are more of them than the OKW HH area.

Lori, that might work if you have an option for the first night. Like a cash reservation somewhere. The closer it gets, the less chance you will get the waitlist. Though things change up at 31 days out, when people either have to cancel or lose points.

wish i knew;).

I went against conventional thinking and shot for the stars, picking BCV & BLT:laughing:.

I do have eagle eye out for potential CRO FDP offer and evaluating offsite deals (will just bank the points in that event).

Did you go for SV at BLT?:rotfl:Hey, it would be great if you got it!:goodvibes

I think I am going to try it and make a cash reservation the first night as a back up plan, now I just need to figure out if I want to go with sheer numbers and the best odds of staying at OKW or trying a different resort and requesting AKV since we have never stayed there... It should be a simple decision that somehow I am stressing over too much.
