HI.

I need some help figuring out which resort to book. I'm planning a May trip for my mom, myself and two more adults. My mom has cancer and is going through chemo which makes her very tired. She has agreed to let us push her around in a wheelchair, although she doesn't need one in her room (she is ambulatory).

We'll be spending most of our time at Epcot and MK, although we will venture to both MGM and AK for half days. From a transportation standpoint, what resorts would be the best choices. I'm only looking at deluxe resorts. At the moment I have the Swan booked as a back-up, but am also looking at Boardwalk Inn, Yacht and Beach Club, Poly and GF. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Especially if you are going to mostly be at MK and Epcot, the Polynesian has the most convenient transportation. You can walk over to the TTC and hop the Epcot monorail or take the ferry to the MK. The ferry is easy to board. The Epcot monorail has a long ramp going but there is an elevator for the return trip. The accessible rooms at the Polynesian are in Rapa Nui which is a very short walk to the TTC.

The Rapa Nui rooms are huge too...around 470 sq ft according to Tikiman, a huge Polynesian fan.

It is more of a walk to the GReat Ceremonial House though...about 5 minutes or so. There you can take an elevator up to the second floor where you can roll right onto the monorail.

And if you will have a car, there is parking right outside this longhouse.

The GF rooms are smaller but do have door plates which is wonderful. The bathrooms there have pocket doors. Both of those things may not matter for your mom though.

Thanks to both of you for the help. Poly is booked for our dates, GF is a little out of our price range ;), so I booked the YC and am hoping for the best. I too thought Poly would be an excellent choice; the only thing that concerned me was a much larger amount of children running around (more like me, pushing the wheelchair, trying to avoid!) I'll keep checking back with CRO about Poly. Now, whether to bring our own chair with us on the plane, or rent one when we get there. Thanks again.

Since you have a group of adults going, I don't think you will be disappointed with staying at the YC. I know for myself & DH the World Showcase is our favorite. The walk from the BC/YC is less than 5 minutes. A very short easy walk even pushing a WC. It's a short boat ride to MGM & to the Boardwalk. You will have to take buses to the MK, so if you do want to spend a lot of time there, I would continue checking on the Poly. We love the Poly it's really easy to get anywhere in the DW from there. But don't worry too much if you can't get ressies there. The YC/BC is great!

ps I'd get a WC for the airport also.

Good Luck!
