For what? What I would think is the best resort for someone with small kids is not the same I would pick for teenagers nor the same for someone with an elderly parent along for the trip.

You need to be more specific about your party and what you're expecting to do to get a better result. :)

It really depends on what you want, your personal tastes, transportation, budget, etc.

If we didn't have a car and I knew that we were going to be spending a lot of time at MK I'd probably go with BLT or WL. If we didn't have a car and plan on spending most of our time at EPCOT or if it was just DH & I I'd probably pick an EPCOT resort or even the Swan or Dolphin. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of the moderates but I can't comment on the transportation since we always drive. And for my family of four (DH, DS9, DS5 and I) we love AKL/AKV.

Well I don't want to have to take a bus everywhere all the time. I would like a place that has some nice food choices nearby and also a decent pool.

OK, sounds like yourself have narrowed it down to the Monorail resorts, since you don't want to rely on buses.

So that would be GF, Poly or CR. All of those fit your other requests, so just decide which "theme" your family would like better and be done.

As PP said, "the best" depends on so many things, even your list doesn't touch what they offer. So make it simple on yourself, choose by them of the 3 if $$ isn't an issue. If $$ is an issue budget first, check what is available for that and then go by theme.

Good luck and have fun!

Well I'm okay with boats and walking as well. I just don't want to have to take a bus to each of the 4 parks.. gets repetitive you know?

If you aren't wanting to take the bus all the time I would recommend an EPCOT area resort. If you stay at the Swan, Dolphin, BW, BC, YC you are within a short walking distance of EPCOT, you can walk to or ride a boat to DHS, and you can hop on the monorail from EPCOT to get to MK. That would mean that the only theme park that you'd really have to take a bus to would be DAK. The Boardwalk resorts are all close to each other so there are the dining options at your resort and the surrounding resorts, not to mention the dining options on the Boardwalk. Most of the pools are pretty decent with the moderate resorts and up all having pool slides.

because op does not want to rely on bus transportation, does not narrow their choices down to monorail resorts. The beach club, yacht club, and boardwalk are walking distance/ boat to 2 parks and the wilderness lodge takes a boat to the mk. All deluxe resorts, aside from akl, have other means of transportation to certain parks beside buses.

The Epcot resorts where you can walk to Epcot and opt to boat to DHS.

My vote was for the YC. I absolutely loved loved loved it there! I cannot wait to stay there again!!!!!!

Having finally stayed there after a few years of only visiting for various meals or late night activities, I think I can safely say that the Boardwalk is easily the best resort on Disney property.

Its proximity (walking distance!) to two parks is a huge plus, and its in-resort access to a myriad of dining and late night establishments is unmatched. As an adult couple with no kids, which is what we are, I can't think of a better option.

Also, being able to walk to the Food & Wine Festival was so useful.

If pool and proximity to parks with decent food choices are the criteria; it has to be either the Yacht Club or the Beach Club then.

You can walk to 2 of the 4 parks.

Best pool on property, Storm Along Bay, is shared by these 2 resorts.

With all of the dining choices at the 5 Epcot resorts plus all of the options at Epcot's World Showcase within easy walking distance, you have the best variety.

We stayed at BWV in Sept and love that you can easily walk to 2 parks. Epcot is about a 5 min. walk and nice coming in the back way and not the front with the masses and DHS was only about 10 min. Really liked staying there. Can also take the boat to Epcot or DHS if you need to. Good luck deciding.

Tough question, I tried to come up with a quick answer but found it a tough decision between OKW, AKV, VWL. Each resort has it own perks and advantages depending on what your plans are.:cool1::banana:

Monorail access. volcano pool, viewing Wishes from the beach, tropical paradise, friendly CM, tiki torches lit at night as you walk, fabulous restaurants, character meal...

My family loooooves the Poly!

We just got back from a week-long trip to WDW and stayed at Wilderness Lodge which has an awesome pool, an amazing theme, and very convenient boat access to the MK. For the rest of the parks we did have to take the bus which we thought overall was a very good system (from what I've heard, we got lucky -- our longest wait was 10 min. and most waits were about 3 min.) Only the bus ride to AK felt a little long.

However, in retrospect, as a party of all adults, we should have stayed at an Epcot resort. The best part of our entire vaction were the two evenings we spent at World Showcase wondering around the lagoon with our beers then watching Illuminations -- but we paid a steep, steep price those nights fighting the crowds to get on a bus home. A short walk back to the Yacht or Beach Club at night would have been AWESOME. Those two resorts might have the best pool of any WDW resort, as well.

In the end, it isn't really critical where you stay -- you'll be taking buses no matter what, which isn't all that horrible because I think the service is overall better than it's reputation. But try to decide what park you think you'll be going to the most -- and pick a resort in that area.

I voted for Poly. 2 great restaurants, and on monorail, I think it has the best transportation being 1 stop by monorail (or boat) away from MK, and a short walk over to the TTC to get Epcot monorail. Bus to DHS and AK. There isn't a resort that has monorail or boat transp. to all 4 parks.

For food choices, aside from the excellent Restaurants in the Poly- you are on the monorail so have easy access to dining at the other 2 monorail resorts- GF & CR. Or catch the Epcot monorail for dining there.

Volcano pool is very nice. I love that you can swim and see the Castle too!
Beautiful landscapping and beach.

Rooms are some of the largest on property. Check out Tikimans web site for everything Poly http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/

Beach Club . Great dining options, great pool, walking, boats, buses, monorail. everything is there.:yay:
