Best resort in December?

Hi all!

What resort would you recommend to stay at during the holiday season? I would love a choice for each level.. Then cost will decide the winner! Just curious on what everyones favorite is...

Our favorite during the holidays is the WL, followed by the GF . The WL is beautiful any time of year, but especially during Christmas time . The lobby is gorgeous all decorated and the huge fireplace surrounded by rocking chairs makes for a very cozy atmosphere .

I would second the WL, love their lobby area in general, but they do a great job with holiday theming.

In general, as you'd expect, you're going to see much better holiday theming at the deluxes. The moderates decorate too, but obviously their space is smaller. POR in 2010 had a tree in their rotunda area outside the check in as well as some garland by the registration desks. I don't know if the values theme at all.

I'm not sure the holiday decorating itself would be my deciding factor, especially since we like to visit all the deluxes anyway to see what they've done. Pretty much all the theming is in public areas, so anyone, including non resort guests can take it in.

Grand Floridean always has a life size gingerbread house that they erect in the lobby. I think either the BW or BC/YC will have some kind of chocolate sculptures on display, and all the deluxes have very nice themed trees in their lobbies. (actually, not sure about the Poly on that one).

...all the deluxes have very nice themed trees in their lobbies. (actually, not sure about the Poly on that one).

the poly is pretty subtle. the CR has the giant mickey wreath and giant outdoor tree, but the interior is pretty restrained as well, IIRC.

Depends on what you're looking for...as the PPs have said, the WL and AKL have giant trees in their lobby. I really like the way the trees reflect the theme of the resort at those two places. Personally, I think I'd pick WL because the whole lobby is decorated wonderfully.

In terms of the edible sculptures, I'd go with either the Boardwalk or the Beach Club. The chocolate show pieces were amazing. I loved all of the details that go into each piece.

In terms of Value resorts, they're all pretty much the same. It's the same level of decorations at all; it's just a matter of the theme. If you're looking for "ohh ahh" type decorations, then the values aren't really the place to go. They're cute, but in a more "kind of like home" way.

I know everyone loves the GF, but I love the BW more. Then again, I just like the whole feel of it better than the GF.

When I tour the resorts during the holidays, these are the 'not to be missed' ones, for me...

If I have time, I'll trek over to Pop....just like it there to begin with. The same with POR...one of my favorite resorts and I love their holiday decor.

I have spent the past two holidays at WL and AKL. Both are beautifully decorated. I think I liked AKL just a bit more though.
