Just wondering.
At which resort would you prefer to stay if at WDW on Xmas day?

Which has the best decorations, children's activities etc.?

Another thing. Can you put a fake Xmas tree in the room? Father did this for me when we had Xmas in Paris.
Would like to do the same for my son.
Planning on being there from the 16th through the 2nd of December.

Looking for all suggestions!!!!!!

thanks,
Connie

I have heard both the Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge both have beautiful Christmas displays.

As for putting up a fake tree you sure can!!! We did this last year at the Caribbean Beach Resort at Disney. It was just SO magical!!!! People even had lights framin the windows in their rooms!

I would definately say the Wilderness Lodge. No other resort can even begin to compare when it comes to breathtaking Christmas decorations and a wondeful holiday atmosphere. The lodge just seems made for Christmas! The tree is the lobby is absolutely amazing! Nothing is more "Christmasy" than sitting in one of those rocking chairs in front of the massive fireplace sipping hot chocolate. They also have tons of great kids activities that your son would enjoy. We've stayed at lots of other resorts and we have visited every resort on WDW property to view their Christmas decorations, and we would never even consider staying any place other than the WL in December.

As for the fake tree, I don't see why that would be a problem. We took a small table-top size one with us last year, but I did see larger ones being brought in. You can even get a decorated tree delivered to your room by the WDW florist, although it is really expensive.

We stayed at the WL last Christmas season, and I've stayed at the GF twice at other times of the year. I wasn't in awe of the WL like so many others. Different strokes and all of that.

I liked the formal, pastel decorations at the GF over WL. The WL was more affordable, but I really like Victorian style.

Go with the style you prefer. We stayed at the POR in May and I couldn't believe how much I loved that resort. We had stayed in cabins in FW for a week (down for a conference for work and couldn't beat the FW prices over the convention hotel), and I thought I was going to miss the roominess of the cabins when we transferred to the POR. From POR we went to the Swan and I realized we just like the Victorian/dixie landings themes the best.

All that babble to say: go with the theme you love most.

Have stayed at both POR and WL at Christmastime. Was at WL on Christmas Day (every room got a little gift bag full of candy Christmas morning!). It is a beautiful resort with a huge tree in the lobby. We also found lots of little trees and wreaths all over the resort. POR is decorated nicely but not as decorated as WL. GF is also very nicely decorated too with the Victorian theme, but we are just not GF folk. WL and POR are our favorite resorts, regardless of time of year! :p

Thanks for your replies,

I have reservations at AKL. I have always wanted to stay there, but I am afraid I will miss something. Do you know what I mean?

Well, I will see what I am going to do. I better make up my mind quickly, however.

Has anyone seen AKL at Christmas time?

I stayed at AKL at Christmas. It was nicely decorated - beautiful tree in the lobby. The AKL is a spectacular resort anyhow. Still, the decorations at the WL are the best in my opinion, followed by the GF. :p

Personally, it would be my dream to spend Christmas day at the Grand Floridian! I can imagine Christmas Carols played in the lobby by the piano player. The Combo playing Christmas songs that night. The gorgeous tree, and the model train, not to mention the full sized Gingerbread House. Ah, I can see it right now!

We spent last Christmas at WDW and had a wonderful time. For my AKL stay, there was a Christmas tree in my suite. Here are some photos of it:

For my BWV stay, my Mother brought along a small tree to decorate in our room. Here is a photo of it:

As you can see, you can holiday at Disney in an expensive manner, and you can holiday at Disney in an inexpensive manner. It honestly doesn't really matter which you choose because Christmas will be Christmas no matter what. Magic happens!

By the way, Purrrrfecta, we spent our Christmas/New Year's at the following resorts: OKW, BWV, AKL, CBR, and CR (it was a 3-1/2 week trip that included my family, my parents, and my sister's family). No matter what resort you eventually choose, your vacation should be magical.

Never been during Christmas time, but I have heard that the WL and GF have magnificent displays, etc.

Thanks Janet!

One word describes the photos - lovely!

That is exactly what I wanted to see. Like I said I have always wanted to spend xmas at AKL, and now I think it will come true. Was it difficult for you to change hotels all of the presents etc? That is one of the reasons why I didn't want to do that, however, if it is not a big deal then I will.
