Well, we are planning a trip for early Dec. 2004. We are considering asking both Grandmas if they want to join us. It would be so fun for them to see Disney with the Grandkids. What would be a good resort to Wow! the Grandmas? I was thinking of connecting rooms at AKL with one being a bunk bed room for us and kids and one being a two queen bed. Or possibly a two bedroom at OKW? We enjoyed a one bedroom at OKW last Dec., but wanted to try something new this time and I have been itching to stay at AKL. Or does anyone have a better idea - we can't break the bank - but we do enjoy nice hotels. We would probalby be paying for the hotel and Grandmas would be paying for flights and park hoppers for themselves, while we all pay for our own food. I'm open to any ideas on property from all you Disney experts!! Thanks in advance!

I guess it depends on how old the grandmas are...

Both my boys grandmas are 57 yo and very young. My mom loved the Wilderness Lodge during that time. They were in awe of the resort and the Christmas decor. I know she would definitely stay there again.

We are going to the Yacht Club in Nov this year and both grandmas are looking forward to lounging by the pool - that is, if they have time with everything I have planned. But the pool may be too cool in Dec. If they like Epcot, as I found most older people do, then an Epcot resort may appeal to them.

Good luck in your choice and have fun!

but we took the great grandma with us a year ago .....we had a wheelchair delivered to the Dolphin.....we just knew that walking for an 85 year old would be to much......my mother in law loved it.....we had a great time......four generations in disney......the dolphin is a very nice quiet resort.......but heck......any resort would of been good as long as we were at disney.......

Hi,

For WOW how about The Villas at Wilderness Lodge (two bedroom) sence you have time to plan why not rent points from dvc member.(see DVC Rent/Trade Forum) Try to plane trip from Sunday-Thursday will require less points and would be less expencive then two rooms, at AKL. Plus you will have full kitchen, washer & dryer..If you wanted to stay longer then go to AKL for a few days. (you could also rent point for OKW,BWV & BEACH CLUB)

Have a great day.

I agree that the Epcot area would be appealing to Grandmas. World Showcase is wonderful, and they might enjoy the Boardwalk, too. If you can't afford Beach Club/Yacht Club, look into the Swan or Dolphin. They are luxury resorts but offer some good discounts on rooms.

Thanks everyone!
I really like the idea of the Wilderness Villas. These are young (50ish) Grandmas and neither one have ever stayed at a Disney resort (and one had never even been to Disney!). I know my Mom will LOVE it. I want to make it a magical trip for everyone! I love everyone ideas, thanks so much!
