It looks like the next trip we take to WDW will include a newborn. Which resort would best accomedate us? We're looking at Budget or Moderate.

No difference, newborn won't notice a difference and bus service is about the same. Monorail resort would be better (easier to get back to your hotel).

All the value and moderates would work for you. Pick the resort that appeals to you.

Will you have a car or depend on bus transportation? If you aren't renting then you might want to pick a room closer to the bus stop.

We'll definately have a car.

Another thing to consider is facilities in the room. Will the newborn be bottle or breastfed? If bottle fed, you might want a room with kitchen facilities, like a studio at a DVC resort. Of course, this gets expensive. Personally, I would chose a resort that is a little less visually stimulating so that going back there is more restful for the baby. WDW is SO stimulating that a little baby really needs a break -- I'm thinking a moderate might be better in this regard. Also, if you are going to be using a crib rather than co-sleeping, you might want to consider a moderate since the rooms are bigger than value resort rooms and therefore you won't feel as crowded with the crib in the room, too.

I know you didn't ask, but I would definitely recommend bringing your own stroller and bringing your own crib sheets (portacrib sheets or pack & play sheets).

If you have a car then you won't have any problems getting back to your resort for the baby naps.

We prefer our car over the busses.

Congratulations on your new baby!!!

Will there be any other children with you? We've stayed at the All Star Movies twice now, and we'll be back in October! We had a room in Love Bug, and 101 Dalmations. Both rooms were very quiet, and a quick walk to the food court/bus stop. Our rooms did not overlook the courtyard area, so maybe that's why they were so quiet. Bus service was wonderful!!

We've also stayed at Coronado Springs and Port Orleans FQ. Both were very nice; Coronado Springs was more spread out than Port Orleans FQ.

I would also suggest bringing your own stroller, especially for walks around the hotel (and if you go visiting other hotels)!!

If you plan to go back and forth from the parks each day and take breaks etc,a monorail resort is a good choice.

We found parking lots and trams etc tiresome with an infant and a stroller.

Thanks Magic2000 but we haven't had the baby yet.

We will be bringing our own stroller, also a sling so I can carry the baby. I will be breast feeding (if all goes as planned) so we don't have to worry about kitchen. We know we want a fridge no matter what.

Does Disney rent you cribs? I never thought to check. I will bring sheets though. Thanks for the tips.

The Dolphin will provide a crib at no charge. I had the choice of a crib or a pack-n-play and chose the crib because that's what we're all used to.

All of the Disney resorts have Pack N Plays available. You just have to ask for it when you reserve the room...and they are guaranteed.
I've heard you can also rent cribs, but that they don't have bumpers, have metal railings, and a low mattress. I've heard the Pack N Plays are a much better option.

The best resort for a newborn is one that makes his/her parents happy!;)

Consider a cabin at Fort Wilderness. There is a separate bedroom so your baby can nap. Full size refrig...in fact full kitchen.

The setting is very quiet and peaceful....good for babies I think. As long as you have your own car and drive to all parks except MK, it would be very easy. You park right outside your trailer and could just leave the stroller in the car. You do not have to bring linens although I always had my own baby blankets along.

We stayed there twice when two of ours were babies (although not newborns) and have great memories.

Congratulations.

Some newborns have to scream and cry (hysterically) each night for a period of time before they go to sleep. I would be a nervous wreck if I thought my baby's crying was keeping all the other vacationers nearby from getting a good nights sleep! A friend took her baby and stayed at the Yacht Club. Her baby was one that needed to cry in order to get to sleep each night. The management ended up calling them and telling them other rooms were complaining. It was all very upsetting.
The cabins give you a little room to spread out. You can put that little baby in the bedroom in a crib and shut the door (letting them fuss if they need to) while you and your spouse have some adult time out by the TV. Nice, too, to have that full kitchen for whatever you may need.
We stayed in the cabins when my almost 6 year old was 4 months old and it worked out beautifully.
