I've been to DisneyWorld a couple times, off property, but this time we are going with Grandma, and she wants to stay on property to avoid driving to the parks.
So, what's a good place to stay? Something better than value hotels (double beds won't work for us? but still being budget conscious (no 2BR villa at the Grand Floridian please).
It's 70 yr old Grandma, 2 moms and 5 kids (age 4-14)

Just so you know, the Value hotels do have queen beds now (except for All-Star Sports, which will after refurbishment). A regular queen, with a pull-down Murphy queen that's slightly smaller.

All-Star Music and Art of Animation even have suites for 6 with a kitchenette and two bathrooms. All-Star Music's will be cheaper (when it reopens), but Art of Animation has Skyliner access, which is a big plus.

First thought for a Moderate is Caribbean Beach, since you can use the Skyliner to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It's a massive resort, but the pirate-themed pool is great for the kids and the on-site dining is solid. You can request adjoining rooms, though Disney doesn't guarantee it.

I would add that if you are hesitant about double beds, be sure to review what DVC sleeping arrangements are. A lot of sofa beds are involved.

Yes, Treehouse is too expensive for us.

sofa beds are ok for the kids, but the adults want a queen (which we will each share with a kid).

Art of animation and Caribbean Beach sound like possibilities

I’d check renting OKW 2br. Sounds expensive but the moderates are hitting $300 a night now, 2 rooms x 5 nights will be $3k+. OKW will be around $3.5k but you’ll also gain a full kitchen and in room laundry and 3 or 4 times the square footage. Of course if WDW offers some room package discounts the price gap will widen making moderates a better value.

sounds good. do you have any idea when Disney might release room discounts for the March timeframe?

It sounds like you are looking for a regular Disney hotel. This is the DVC/Timeshare portion of the site. Maybe post your question on the Disney Resorts section to get some advice.

CCV, BRV, RIV, BCV are all going to be more consolidated resorts so you could get two studios and be close to one another. POLY you could get connecting studios likely.

Something like AKV is going to be a cheaper option but more spread out.

That’s the big question this year. There aren’t any offers past late Sept. UK has a food credit bonus going into 2022 but even that’s much less than previously. By now we should’ve seen deals for the end of the year but looks like they didn’t need to this year.
If the put out a deal for next spring maybe that might come in the fall. Mousesavers.com keeps a history page on WDW deals.

FYI getting back to the values - both beds at Pop are queens. The mattresses on the stationary bed and the Murphy are identical.
