I tried posting on the main resort thread, but didn't get much response and I need other moms (and dads) to weigh in!!

Backstory: I'm going with 3 kids on my own for 4 nights, then dh will be joining us for the last 4 nights. Booking on DVC points.

I've narrowed it down to:

4 nights poly studio, 4 nights blt 1 br ($400 more than cheapest option)
or
4 nights poly studio, 4 nights kidani 1 br (cheapest option)
or
8 nights kidani 1 br ($300 more than cheapest option)

Poly would be great when I don't have DH bc of the monorail to MK and EP, but buses everywhere else. Though I am very excited to stay at the poly and get to try out the new splash area (though we're going in Jan and it may not be warm enough.

8 nights in the 1 bedroom is also appealing because I won't have to pack up and move, and we'll be able to settle in.

DH doesn't care, because he'll only be staying for the last 4 days. He says he'd rather stay somewhere new (BLT) but is on the fence because of the price difference. We've stayed at Kidani and AKL before and love them, especially all the extra-curriculers they have.

With little kids I would go with this one. I just hate the bus and would want to minimize it! The monorail will be so easy. Plus its always fun to check out something new! And I think the option of walking to MK would be worth the extra price. No matter what they are all awesome options!

I would either go with option 2 or option 3. If you are going to change rooms and want the benefit of the monorail during the first 4 days then do it the cheaper of the two choices between 1 and 2 - unless BLT holds some specific appeal. Option 3 only because the thought of switching rooms sounds complicated. Are the last 4 days of your trip not available at Poly or is there a huge price jump? Is all 8 days at Poly an option?

We want to switch to a 1 br once DH is there. There are no 1 br villas at Poly.

We've stayed at Kidani before, and we've never stayed at BLT. Kinda curious to try something new.

I say #1..if you don't mind moving then you may as well try something different! You can try 2 different resorts and have the convenience of the monorail.
We are doing a split stay our next trip in August..we are staying in a 2 bdrm BLT for 2 days and then moving to Beach club villas for 7 days. We always stay in Kidani and as much as i LOVE it, it was time for something new.

I'd go with 3. We stayed at a 2 bedroom at rage BCV, and my parents stayed in a studio, and it was tiny!

How old are your kids? We did a split stay once when the kids were really little and I didn't like it. Too much to pack and unpack, and on the day you switch resorts, you're "homeless" for most of the day (which is tough when you have ids who need to nap). So if you have little ones who would benefit from a mid-day nap each day, I'd go with option 3.

If your kids are a little older and don't need daily naps and can help with packing/unpacking, I'd go for option 1. BLT is so convenient - we love walking to MK.

Have you considered BCV or BWV? Walking to Epcot and HS is a benefit of those resorts.
