The Florida Resident "Best Rate Program" has been scrapped... If finally dawned on Disney, with some help from unhappy Florida residents, that you don't mess with a good thing... Trying to force residents to make reservation more then 60 days in advance to get the lowest resort rate and trying to charge them for the first night when canceling (At Any Time) , did not sit well with residents... Now things are pretty much back to normal... :woohoo:

This was announced a while ago.

Do you have the press release on that announcement... Because I go there every month and It was in force at x-mas time ... and I called in Janauary for a Feb 9th and 10th 2006 visit and It was still running... I just happened to look on the Disney passholder site and it was gone... and I was happy to see that it gone... How did they think they could get away with that anyway... :confused3

It was about January 10 when it ended :thumbsup2 , this was from Mousesavers:

Info taken from mousesavers.com

Ding dong, the witch is dead -- many Annual Passholders will be thrilled to hear that the "Best Rate Program" is gone!

You can book online or by calling Disney during all business hours. For phone bookings, no change or cancellation fee will be charged if you make your modification more than five days before arrival. For online bookings it appears the change/cancellation deadline may be 46 days -- a real incentive to book by phone!

You can book up to three rooms per pass. You can book with a valid Annual Pass, an exchange voucher or with the intent to purchase an Annual Pass, as long as you present a valid Annual Pass or exchange voucher upon check-in. Thanks to Small World Vacations for info

Even when BRP was in effect FL Residents could call and book these rates right up until the date needed if they were still available. We also had the 5 day cancellation policy without penalty. These rates didn't come out as early as the BRP though and the BRP rates were better at least for the mods and deluxes. :wave2:

Give Goofy47 credit for sharing what he felt was news!
Some of us that don't currently have APs cannot access the site and therefore weren't aware it was scrapped for sure!

goofy47...... thanks, I appreciate you posting this. I suspected so, but really had not read any releases confirming such.
So now.... I might go ahead and get that AP.

IMHO..... good news is worth repeating! :goodvibes :goodvibes
