Best rate for Euros?

Hi all

Does anyone know of a website that gives all the various exchange rates, rather than me literally visiting every travel agent/banks website? I'm looking to change some money up in the next week.

Or can anyone recommend where to get the best rate for Euros?

This is a good site to compare rates.

I tend to buy my foreign currency from M&S. Travelex usually does a better rate if you can book in advance on-line but beware that you will incur cash advance fees this way and you have to collect from airport/ferry terminal so it's not convenient for everyone.

Though it may not help on this occassion, the best rate you can probably get is to have a current account and / or credit card with Nationwide. Carry a little cash, but otherwise use your debit or credit card for all purchases.

Nationwide don't charge for purchases abroad. As long as you make sure you are paying in Euros, not the shop or restaurants exchange rate, the exchange rate is then processed by Nationwide at bank commercial rates, not tourist rates.

Before going last week, I changed some cash at M&S at a rate of about 1.38 euros to the pound. However, I made most purchases using my Nationwide cards and the rates Nationwide have converted the euros to pounds was at 1.43 - much better than I could get for cash.

Hi thanks for your replies. Looks like most of the hight street places charge more or less the same - I'm only looking to change about £100 so I'll probably go to Travelcare or the Post Office.

Last year when we went we used both our debit card and credit card (both Halifax) and we found on our statements that we weren't charged for using the credit card so we shall probably use that most while we are there.
