hi all....my kids are getting bigger now and i really dont want to carry a big backpack this year. i do have a small "cross" body purse that i was thinking about bringing. but wanted something alittle bigger? what do u guys bring with u. just want a large, over the shoulder (cross) body style. i did look at the travelon bags from QV*C. -- thanks for any tips :)

I use a small canvas bag that hangs on my back and has light weight strings instead of heavy straps. It's enough for a water, money, cell phone and my camera. My son has a bag just like it from school (a lot of kids use these to carry sports stuff in) and he carries his own bag with his water, money, cell phone, and IPod. That way we split the load! He's 11 and plenty old enough to help. Are your kids old enough to carry their own bags?

My family has also reached the age of being able to carry things of their own. I had a small zipper tote and my daughter carried her own small Vera Bradley style cross-body tote which contained her cell phone, camera and various small toiletries. My husband and teen-aged son both wore cargo shorts (VERY handy!!) to carry wallets, cameras, etc.

Have fun!

I just ordered this one from QVC (may be the one you were looking at)http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.F07597.desc.Travelon-Sporty-Messenger-Style-Shoulder-Bag-with-Wristlet

for our trip in October. It looks like it has enough space for the essentials but not too much space where I would be tempted to carry more than I need. I also really liked all of the pockets on the outside to make things easily accesible (kttw card, camera, phone, etc). Some of the other travelon bags have the flap on the front and I think that would get annoying after a while. We will also have a small stroller with us so I can use the basket on there for change of clothes, ponchos, etc. Good luck in your search!

no... my boys are 6 and 2....so alittle to small to carry their own stuff....well....thanks for the thoughts...ill keep my hunt going!

Cargo shorts, for the whole family. Then you can skip the bag line.

Here's a pair I wear:

After reading several recommendations here on the DIS, I bought a Baggallini Messenger bag a couple trips ago. I really like it! It's now my official Disney bag, but I've also used it at home on day trips. It's like a small backpack, but you wear the one strap across your body. It's big enough for me without being too big. It comes in lots of colors.

I like to buy from bagsbuy.com because they usually have good coupons and they have free shipping (both ways)!

I have neck and back problems, and most bags and purses really hurt my neck. I bought an Ameribag and I love it. I didn't care for the Bagalinis, but I really love my Ameribag.

I always carry either a Sherpani Pica bag or a Kipling Lancelot bag. The Pica is the perfect size for the things I usually carry and works well both cross body and on one shoulder. The Lancelot is larger and I normally carry that on one shoulder but I think it would also work cross body. I've been very pleased with both styles.
