best prices this winter

I want to take a last minute (for me) trip this winter. I'd like to go when the Christmas decs are up but any time from Nov-March would be good. It will be just me and either dh or one of my college kids. We like to stay on property but I want to keep this as cheap as possible. I want to squeeze in a day to USF. In order to do USF i'll need to find the cheapest transport. The last time we went I got such a good deal on a rental car that was almost as cheap as the shuttle.
Should I be waiting a bit til some of these possible discounts come out? I also teach so I can get a dscount at Swan/Dolphin

We are all waiting to see what those discounts will be.
