Its that time of year when I am depressed cos its dark when I go to work and dark when I leave and me and DH have to wait until October for our 3-week Disney fix.

I have been doing lots of research and am trying to come up with a quick trip that isn't going to cost too much - flying miles permitting. Which brings me to my question.

Where is the best place to purchase annual passes? Also we will require annual travel insurance – my current provider, Nationwide, have put their rate up £20 which I think is a rip off

Hopefully, with your help, I can come up with a ‘persuasive package’ then DH wont be able to say no!

Any ideas from you experts?

Hi Alex,

With respect to annual passes, you can only buy them direct from Disney, the only discount I'm aware of is the Disney Club discount, but you'd have to be an existing member as I'm sure they've stopped membership in the UK.

The exchange rate is very much in our favour at the moment though, we've just got ours to start this October to take advantage of the good exchange rate (watch it go up to $3 a pound now that we've done that - LOL)

No discounts on AP's any longer. The Disney Club ceased operating 31st December 2003 both here and the UK. The only way you get discount on an AP now is if you are renewing an existing one I'm afraid.

As far as travel insurance is concerned - I always recommend Annual Insurance for the family as it can work out cheaper especially if you take your nest annual holiday before it runs out. I have got mine in the past through Halifax, Boots and I now see Tesco is offering a good rate also.

Just purchased AP's direct from WDW 2Xadult and 2Xkids total $1163, which was cheaper than there advertised prices. I received no discounts as far as I'm aware.

Wow that's a great price are these the first time you had AP's for Disney orlandomad?

That sure is a big difference from $1454 you should have been charged.

And you even paid less than the $1297 renewal rate. Lucky you :) but I'm intrigued and miffed as to why they charged you so little.

Would you be able to find out so that we can all cash in on this ?

I don't know why it was so cheap, i'd worked it out to be $1366 going by the prices on the WDW site, the lady asked me what I expected to pay, I said "$1366...why is it any cheaper.." as you do...she said let me see what I can do and came back with $1163...I'm not complaining :) Vouchers arrived today.

Am I right on these prices??

Just checked dis site, for 3xadults(DS is 12 when we go, so adult price)

$520.81(premium annual pass)=$1561.43=approx£844.41

So if I call for a price, is there a likelihood I will get them cheaper than the above price?

Im really keeping my fingers crossed here.

And can somebody give me the phone number please

Jules

Well it's always worth a try Jules and it worked for orlandomad - just don't be too disappointed if you don't get it at that.

Just to clear up any price discprepancies - my calculation of $1454 includes tax.

Please can I have the phone number so I can call for a price

Jules

Thanks for your help with prices for annual passes. I suppose its convenient that the only place to buy is Disney just a case now of keeping an eye on the exchange rate and deciding to buy either before we go or wait until we get there.

Spooky or what - I haven't needed to sell the idea to DH as he was thinking along the same lines, see if we can get an affordable week. I suppose after 30 years of marriage this March, its no surprise that we are on the same wavelength!

Just have to a bit more careful with some of my thoughts sometimes.

Next stop, Mr Branson to see about my flying miles.

For insurance I have found a site www.moneysupermarket.com and they can do annual insurance for a couple with £10m medical for £66.69 with 24Dr Travel Insurance. I've never heard of them but have looked and the details and they look as good as any of the highstreet companies.

Is this too good to be true? What do you think?

Alex
