Best present you ever got.

my hubby bought me 175 dvc points last Nov for our 16th anniversary.

Maryr1 I loved your stories. They were so touching.

Mine was from my dh. (Be warned. Women all love it and men all hate it)

On our 24th anniversary I woke up to 24 balloons in my living room, 23 roses in my dining room with the 24th in our bedroom. Throughout the day there were more presents, 24 in all. Some small, some silly. When dinner came around he sent our sons out to the movies and ordered in some dinner. The last present was a Lennox heart that said "Happy 25th Anniversary". When I looked at it I said "But it's not our 25th". He told me to open it. Inside was a card saying "Will you marry me again?" That night we started to plan our vow renewal for our 25th anniversary.

That was such a special day. All our immediate families came, including some from Kansas City. I remember our oldest nephew running down the street because he was almost late. My gf and her daughter played The Wedding Waltz from the pbs show Civil War. My gf played the guitar and her daughter played her violin. The priest at our church couldn't do the ceremony but my friend's husband was a deacon so he did the service. We had it in our backyard on a beautiful summer day.

Just wanted to say I read my husband your story and he likes it (as do I.)

A box of Lorna Doones and an ice cold Coke, just when I needed them:banana:

For our 4th anniversary my husband bought me a house. :)

On a different note, one year for Christmas, after reading a selection from The Velveteen Rabbit at my wedding that October, my friend gave me her childhood copy. It is worn at the corners and slightly dirty and absolutely perfect. One of my most cherished gifts ever.

A kitty for my sixth birthday. I named her Whiskers, she was my best friend for 13 years. :goodvibes

Most romantic?
I had a boyfriend fill every empty jar, bottle vase, glass, coffee mug, several bowls and my bathtub with Daisies, my favorite flower. They were every where in my apartment, on every counter, table shelf. He actually stopped on the side of the road where they were growing wild in a field and picked them/ hacked them down with a utility knife, pulled them up by the roots... actually he wasn't my boyfriend until he did this!!!:cool1:

He also packed a picnic lunch one other day and "kidnapped" me after class, we sat in median of the highway and waved as cars passed by honking at us. :rotfl:

When we moved to Europes one thing I really missed was ICE. You ask for "a lot of ice" when you go out and they give you 3 or 4 little cubes.
We bought ice cube trays for home, but the tiny German freezer did not hold much and I like a LOT of ice in my drinks.

We had a very hot first summer. School here does not let out until the last week in July. DH was travelling almost every week. I was lonely.

One day, the doorbell rang and there was a package for me. DH had found a countertop ice machine for me on Amazon.de and ordered it as a surprise.

BEST. GIFT. EVER.
The fact that he knew i was lonely and knew I missed ice like I could have at "home" and found something I didn't even know existed to help with the ice part and just got it for no special occasion and sent it without saying a word was so sweet and so loving and just made me feel wonderful.

AWE I cried when I read this, BOY is he a keeper!

I'm going to sound really superficial but my favorite gift is my current car. My DH drove it home, with the salesman, as a surprise last Dec. 23rd. I love the fact that he thought to surprise me.

A close second is my iphone 3Gs. It's been instrumental in my recent weight loss of 32 pounds and increased fitness level. I could go on and on but basically, that little gadget has changed my life for the better. DH gave it to me last year as a B-day present.

My hubby and I were dating for 5 years when he decided to take me to Disney. We flew there I remember he wouldnt let me hold his carry one bag and made me go threw the metal detector alone.. When we got to the hotel room, he told me to go take a shower but I was too excited to get to the park. So he opened the bag and pulled out a wrapped gift and told me to open it.. inside was a Boyd's Bear Wedding Chapel ( I used to collect all Boyds stuff) well the top comes off and inside was a marque cut diamond engagement ring!..he picked out both by himself and was very mad that he didnt get to set it up like he planned.. I was so excited!

A kitchen aide mixer. I have a new one now but the original is still the best! I enjoy baking so it was romantic to me.:lovestruc

My easter basket this year. My SO had been listening and paying attention to what I liked. He had gone to many specialty stores and bought British treats, perfumes (3), chocolates, plus a bunch more other stuffed all topped with a Minnie balloon. He really put a lot of time and effort into that. After he'd gathered it all up he took it to a florist to make a special basket with flowers. The presentation was beautiful.

My ipad! DH and I usually only exchange stocking stuffers at Christmas, we're not big gift givers at all. However, he got an unexpected bonus a few days before Christmas last year and used some of it to get me an ipad. I still think it was so that I would keep my paws off of his! (his was bought for him through work)

I'll take electronics or a trip over jewelry and flowers any day, I'm a very practical gal.

My husband donated a kidney for me. It is, by far, the best gift I have ever gotten.

A leather jacket. Not only was she able to keep a secret from me, but she was able to save money for it while we were trying to get ourselves back on our feet. It may not seem like much, but at that particular time in our lives, it was fantastic.

When I was young, single and could barely cook, an older, more experienced (with cooking) friend of mine made me a complete Christmas meal - turkey, sweet potatoes, macaroni & cheese, greens, rolls and dessert! I at it all by myself for days, and still remember it twenty years later. I still can't cook well:confused3
