We are set to go to Ft. Wilderness in January for 2 nights. We have a party of 10 and will be camping with 3 tents. Unfortunately, we got a premium site so I know it will be made more for the RV/Pop-up campers than us tent campers. Is there a specific loop or area we can request to have a better chance of having the room for all 3 tents? So far, I haven't been able to convince the kids that sleeping in the car is just the same as being in a tent. ;) We are trying to downgrade or add another site, but so far no luck. :confused3

sometimes you can change your site when you arrive. they won't give you the site number until you get there. but, if you go and look at it and it isn't big enough you could go back and ask if there might be something else.

i have seen the large rvs do this in the past... just something to keep in mind. they do try to help when they can.

Golly! How big are your tents and vehicle? Although I only had one very large tent, the site I stayed in last year would have been plenty big enough for a couple more.

Our tents are regular size, but I know generally the sandy pad area of the premium sites are much smaller than the standard sites. I was hoping to get some tips from those that have BTDT on the best loop to pick. I'm glad to know they will work with us if possible when we get there.

I dont think you will have a problem, I have seen several tents in various preferred sites with plenty of room. I would just pick out a preferred loop that you would like to be in. There was a tent camper next to us in the 800 loop and we were just across from the Meadows area.

We were on 201 (I believe it was, it was the first site on the right hand side of the loop) and it had plenty of space for our 9x13 with room to spare for the picnic table. If you tell them the space you need when you make your reservation, they'll try to give you a site where it will all fit. I would still try to get a partial, you'll have better luck as people cancel closer to the deadline.

I think the 1400 loop would be your best bet. It is closest to the campfire. It also seems to have pretty big sites. Plus it is in close walking distance to the store/ pool and activiities. Plus my kids lovebeing near the teather ball court. I see tents set up in there all the time.
If your site looks too small, just go back up to the front and ask to me moved. They have no problem doing that!
Anyway, have fun.

We were in 1400 and had a large sand area. A few sites over they had at least 3 tents and a screen tent on the pavement.
