I am looking for the best pools in your opinions around Disneyland. I am looking for ammenties like, waitresses, soft ground/sand, swim up bar, heated pools, flora and fauna, theming, maybe even adult only pool, things like this. I am looking for lots of options, because I am sure I will not be able to afford all the choices. If you have pics, all the better.

I don't know of any pools like that around DL.

I think the resort hotels (DLH, GC, PP) have places to get food, but no sand, no waitresses, etc.

Most of the other pools don't even allow food if I remember correctly.

Sorry.

The Disneyland Hotel has sand in several locations. They have volleyball too as I remember. It has a bar where you can go get a drink and a place called Crocs Bits n Bites that serves food (burgers, nachos, chicken baskets, that sort of thing). No waitresses however come around. There is some nice landscaping there, some pretty palm trees etc. The Grand Californian has waitresses that will bring you food and beverage. The food comes from Whitewater Snacks (you can also just go get it yourself) and is very good. Nice sandwiches, salads, burgers. The Paradise Pier has no sand, a pool bar that has not been open when I have been there and no waitresses. All three of the Disneyland Resort oniste hotels have pool slids, kiddie pool, but no adult pools, no swim up bars. They also all three have lifeguards during the day until around 7:00 p.m. As far as offsite pools near Disneyland most of the places near there are motels. With a square, basic pool and maybe a hottub. No bars, no waitresses, no lifeguards no sand that I am aware of. The Howard Johnsons right there on Harbor has a nice main pool with a kiddie pool and a spray jet area that little kids love. No bar however. They have another pool that is a basic pool and usually quieter since it doens't have the spray jet area. But its not adult only, it just sometimes works out that way. Of the offsite places near Disneyland, its the only one that has some nice grounds and pools that are a notch above a normal motel pool. But its nowhere near something like what you are describing and wanting.

If you click on the the sticky at the top of this board titled Disneyland FAQ's, info, maps and hotel info, you will see some pictures of all three onsite hotels and many of the good neighbor hotels around Disneyland. You might also go on Expedia and check out their pictures and slideshows of the hotels (off and an onsite) hotels around Disneyland

Amy&Dan's description is pretty on. I almost answered the question this morning, but was completely stumped.

At DLH, the pool with the sand is the quiet pool. I'm not sure that the snack bar is close to this pool. I don't know if you can get alchoholic drinks at any of the DL hotels.

If you want more a resort feel type of vacation, you might want to stay at one of the ocean resorts and drive to DL (i.e. in Huntington Beach or Newport Beach).

There is also a small sandy area near the main pool (or at least there used to be). Its not a lot but my nieces and daughter had fun playing in it last time we stayed there. You can get alcoholic drinks at the DLH and GCH very easily. PP's pool bar is sometimes closed in the off season. I agree with Honeymom though that maybe one of the beach resorts would fit the needs better.

Thank you very much for the answers, they are very helpful.

I haven't been to DLH since 2002. At that time there wasn't a sandy area by the Neverland Pool, but they may have added one since.

Its very small, but I have pictures of my nieces and daughters playing in it. Its almost like a flowerbed size thing. But enough for very young children to play in. And this was in December of 2004. Its sort of in the back, by the tables near the entrance to the slide.

Here is a photo with the sandy area at the main pool in the background. As you can see, it is not overly large, but it is fine for littler kids to play in.

Nope, it wasn't there in 2002.

Yes at the Grand they have waitresses that take your order at your pool chairs and bring the food right to you!!! It's great, we love to be by the pool and order nachos from Whitewater Snacks. Yummy! Makes me want to be there now, can't wait till April!

The sandy area has been there for a long time - I was @ the DL Hotel in '95 and there was a sandy area.

It's not near the Neverland pool, but near the quiet pool, located towards the back of the hotel.

Another hotel that might have poolside bar is the Sheraton Park Hotel, and maybe the Hyatt Regency. You might also check out the Marriott, but I'm not sure.

Further away would be the Hyatt - Huntington Beach & the Laguna Surf & Spa Resort -- we have great info on those two resorts in the accommodations link at the top of the Disneyland board.

Happy hunting. :)

There IS a sandy area near the Neverland Pool! It's funny, I didn't notice it all the times we went to the pool, but I did notice it one evening near the end of our stay; the groundskeeping staff raked the sand, then covered it with some sort of platform. I think it was related to the 'Golden Treasure' event they had going on the night of 9/28/06, but I never saw or heard anything going on there. It may have occurred the next day, after we left.

Guess I wouldn't make a very good cop or detective, would I? :lmao:

Yes, I had already written about the sandy area by the quiet pool. However, now they seem to also have a sandy area by the Neverland Pool.
