Best pools at a Deluxe Resort?

The last time Disney Family stayed at DW, we stayed at CBR. We loved that we could go swimming late at night. Although we went to the main pool to swim....I liked that there were multiple pools for each section of the resort. DD loved the Pirate Themed water playground that was there and DS loved the 2 water slides there.

In our next DW trip....I am planning on "Movin' on Up" to one of the Deluxe Resorts. I am leaning towards CR only because of it's proximity to MK and the monorail ride to PR ( for dinner at Ohana )....but presumed that the pool would be nice.

The other options that I would consider are Wilderness Lodge, Beach and Yacht Club and the Boardwalk Inn.

How does the pool options at the other Deluxe Resorts compare to CR?

The CR pool is not as themed as the other deluxe resort pools. It's a nice pool, shaped like a Mickey head, but that's about all. We love the CR, it's one of our fav resorts. But the pool is lacking.

BC/YC share a wonderful pool area. When the guards are off duty, it is closed. There are leisure pools available 24/7.

we recently stayed at the grand Floridian and really enjoyed the beach pool there. it is simple, but the monorail is so close and cool to watch go by from the water, there is a nice slide, and the zero entry made for a large area our 4 year old could easily navigate. just another idea.

we also love the Polynesian pool but i am not sure about construction closing possibilities.

we enjoy sab but its not our favorite. it also isn't that great with our little kid who was 3 when we stayed there. i had many great visits there as a teenager though and my sister and i loved sab.

As the pp said, the CR pool is Mickey head shaped, but other than that, there's not really anything special about it. We've stayed at CBR, AKL, WL, BC, Poly, and GF and out of all of those, the volcano pool at the Poly is our favorite, followed by the WL & AKL pools. We thought SAB at the BC was nice and we're glad we were able to try it, but like the pp, it's not our favorite.

Just got back from the bwi the coaster pool was the best we have stayed at

You might want to check out the thread on closing pools at night.

Thanks.....I know that the extra pools at the CBR didn't have lifeguards and were open really really late.....I recall swimming at the main CBR until 10pm or 11pm with no Lifeguards present.....heck, I even saw people in the pool up until midnight.

What time does the CR pool have a lifeguard on duty til during summer nights?

YC and BC's pool is one of the best on property. They share Storm along Bay.
Thanks to both of you for responding. I looked at a picture of the YC and BC pool and noticed that there are 4 pools that are all located in the same area but not all connected. If you stay at YC or BC...are you able to go to all the pools that are located there?

Are all the various pools in that area open until 10 or 11pm?

I think that CR's pool is the best it's really quiet and theirs not many people there. When we went their was figuratively no one in the quiet pool and the main pool didn't have many people in it either.

The BLT pool is fun at the CR, but none compare to Stormalong Bay @ the BC/YC . Followed closely by the pool at Kidani Village at AKL. No question.

Based off of what I see of SAB, I have decided that I will switch my stay from CR to BC.

Thanks for responding to this email thread. Swimming at the pools at the resorts are really important for the kids.

Good choice!!! They will LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Mine did. :hyper:

Stormalong Bay was a huge hit with our DD6 and DS12

:lmao::rotfl2:
Scary clown is a deal breaker for me

Us too! We simply cannot do the Boardwalk purely because of that clown!!! Now, when the kids are grown and adults go alone? Then maybe. Until then, no creepy clowns. :rotfl:
