Best Pool Home Neighborhood

There is not much difference between the neighborhoods. They are all basically the same and so are the homes. Not one management company in Orlando solely owns each house in a given neighborhood. There could be 10 different management companies that own houses in a given neighborhood. And unless any of these people have stayed in every neighborhood full of vacation homes, how can they say which is the best? Don't be oversold on a vacation home......if they are within 4-7 minutes of Disney...THEY ARE ALL BASICALLY THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, no need to shout:)

Is it possible to stay in every rental villa in MCO? - no, but we'd like to try;) Some like certain amenities, others prefer different things.

And there are endless combinations of amenities...which can be overwhelming to anyone beginning a search for accomodations - not even considering the basic stuff:
Onsite vs. offsite to begin...
If you're onsite - lots of choices there...and offsite, things get even more confusing :goodvibes Which is why we're here, offering our opinions :teeth:

Basically the same???...well, sure, if you think so. We'll agree to disagree:)

Hoping the OP is having fun searching!:)

Johnny, if you want to get technical, I guess so. They don't all have the same paint, face the same direction, have the same number blades of grass in the lawn....etc etc etc....

We are looking at a property in Lindfields. Has anyone had any experience with this community. I think the other 2 we are looking at are Indian Creek and Tuscan Ridge. We are very excited about renting our first villa. :cool1:

Sorry, but you stated 'They are all basically the same etc etc etc' - I do not agree that's all, unless I read your comments the wrong way?
You have stayed in every villa have you!

We obviously have different opinions which is what these forums are partly all about.

I do not have any experience of Lindfields but have stayed at Indian Creek before and are doing so again next year.

I feel IC is ideally situated, just off the 192 and close to restaurants and supermarkets (a Publix just a couple of miles away).
Access is also very good for Disney and the I4.

There is a good mixture of newish 4 and 5 bedroomed homes.

Emerald Island is also I believe very nice and is one to bear in mind also.

This isn't a question of 'agreeing to disagree'. This post is factually incorrect and thus unhelpful to the OP. In any event, you'd only have to stay in 2 villas to be able to state that they're not all the same. To be able to claim they're all the same - then you'd need to have stayed in them all. And, as Jan has already pointed out, the management companies do just that - manage them. They do not own them.

We have stayed in 10 different villas on 5 different communities and we've visited many more. Here are some of the things which I look for when renting (and which certainly are not present in every case, thus making them different!):

Location;
South facing pool;
Extended lanai;
Not overlooked;
Jacuzzi;
Games room;.
Two similar sized master suites;
Computer with internet access;
Top of the range furnishings;
Large flat screen TVs;
Key code entry.

The newer/nicer communities tend to be gated, IMHO, although I do agree with Jan that the gates are rarely closed, so there's no real safety benefit. The community facilities available at some sub-divisions (such as Emerald Island and Windsor Palms) are not important to me. However, it's obviously a huge differentiating factor and, if you want to be on this kind of development, you can immediately discount thousands of villas from your search, because there aren't that many of them.

shonadamson - Lindfields is the original rental community and, if you are going to rent there, you will need to ask questions about how recently the home was refurbished. In fact, bearing in mind that any photos you see will have been taken when the home was brand new (or newly refurbished), it's not a bad question to be asking about any home you're thinking of renting. As Jan says, not all owners are equal!

Of the three, Tuscan Ridge is the newest, but furthest from Disney (on the US27) - about 15-20 minutes drive. Indian Creek is fairly new and genuinely one of the closest to Disney (only Formosa Gardens and Acadia Estates are closer and we really are talking a hair's breadth!). It is possible to be on WDW property within 5 minutes. Lindfields is just a little further away.

I fully agree Deb - as I stated earlier.

We look for :

location (preferably Indian Creek)
south facing pool
fully fenced pool
home reasonably new
good range of photos available from the renter
VCR in lounge
ceiling fans in all the rooms
carpeted lounge (a lot are tiled)

Whilst we like the look of Windsor Palms most of the quotes we have had are at least £100 per week more than at IC...we have also stayed at Indian Point and Cumbrian Lakes on Poinciana Boulevard.
As far as gated communities go, CL is one however when we we were there in August they were open the whole time - think someone had driven into them :)

I have never driven round Lindfields, but as it is an older development personally I would not choose it - although that is probably a bit unfair on home owners who do keep their properties in good condition.
We just had a bad experience with an older home in the Davenport area on our first villa rental. I am sure it was a one-off and all the owners look after their villas really well.

Based on all the great information that we got here we have decided on a villa in Indian Creek. We are very excited. We are sending out the deposit check today.

Glad to hear you found somewhere, you have made a good choice.

Is there a new road "the beltway" going in near or through this (Indian Creek) development?

Yes it cuts the resort in half, Goes right through the middle of it. I looked at Indian Creek back last March and decided it is no longer a nice place to stay. Not for me anyway.

It depends on what part of the development you are located at..a lot of the homes are nowhere near the construction work.

We stayed there in March and had no problems and do not anticipate any next August either.
