Best Plan for April Visit

This is our first trip to US/IOA. We are staying at the PBH. What is the best plan for purchasing tickets? I have thought about the annual pass for the convenience of being able to go park to park without purchasing tickets.

Should I purchase tickets before we arrive or can I purchase them at the onsite hotels? Also I have a AAA card can I get the discount by purchasing them on site with the AAA card?

If you don't want the annual pass (I didn't because I knew I wouldn't be able to get back ), they have the option of a 5-day pass now complete with park hopping and Universal Express privileges. These tickets are only $89.95 for adults and $76.95 for kids and the biggest headache is that the tickets must be used for the consecutive 5 days after you first use the ticket and then they expire. And they do NOT include parking if you're driving which you're not. Of course you can also order the different annual passes via this website too.

By the way, we used the Electronic Will Call option which worked real smoothly. I assume that the annual passes can be purchased in that manner too?
