Best Places to Watch Pirate Night Fireworks

As I typed the subject header, I realized "from my verandah" would be a popular answer. :-) We do have an aft verandah. Will that be a good place?

Also, which of the public spaces do you get a good, relatively uncrowded view of the fireworks?

Any Pirate Night tips?

If you're on a Dream class ship, I prefer deck 12 where it isn't quite as crowded. Looking at the picture below of deck 11 I like to stand in the area of where it says Mickey's Pool on deck 12. I get there early enough so I can stand right next to railing to se the show, then when the fireworks start I have an unobstructed view of them on the opposite side.

We prefer (on the Dream class ships) deck 13 forward, starboard side. The attached pic was taken from that spot. But from there you won't see the pirate festivities. I don't think you'll see much from an aft verandah.

If you have a starboard corner verandah (like we did, 8682) you can certainly see the fireworks from there. I do not think you would be able to see them from any of the other aft rooms (8188 which we have also stayed in).

Unless things have changed, you're actually not supposed to be on your verandah for the fireworks because of safety.

Thanks, I would've never thought of that. Curious as to why a verandah viewing would be less safe for viewing from anywhere else on the ship? Is it just a matter of response time if something happens?

Probably? I've never seen it explained - people have just gotten notifications (and I think it's in the Navigator) to please not be on their verandah during fireworks. (Not that everyone listens.)

There are certain rooms where the potential for debris is higher than others, so they kindly ask that those guests do not make use of their balconies at that time. This LINK is to the recent letter placed in those rooms. I don't see in the RECENT NAVIGATOR where it requests no one be on their balcony.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't say for sure it was in the Navigator - I thought I remembered seeing it, but I could be mistaken (and my last DCL cruise was 2/2015). :)

Are the fireworks fired nearer to the bow or the stern on the starboard side?

They are fired off from between mid and aft on the starboard side. Outwards, toward the forward starboard side. Kinda midship.

Thanks! Didn't expect such a detailed clear answer. Members on this board are really the BEST.

This pic was taken on deck 12, port side between the funnels. Fireworks shot from the aft (right of pic) towards bow.

So would deck 12 starboard side have a view less obstructed by the funnels, or, are people not allowed to stand on that side? I get so few chances a year to practice firework photography, your great picture makes me itching to try!

We were on the starboard side just behind the stage area funnel. It was blocked off so that the characters had access to the stage during the show. I don't recall if the rope remained up during the fireworks or not. But there were also people on the starboard side on the deck above the pool/stage area. Just the immediate area to access the stage was blocked.

The answer will largely depend on whether or not you want to see the fireworks and the show or just the fireworks
