Best places to get DL trip deals for Canadians????

Hi all

I'm already trying to figure out how to get back to DL!!!

I've checked out getawaytoday and some other sites and they don't work for Canadians.
Are any of you willing to share your very best secrets about places, websites, agencies where Canadians can get the best deals???

Getaway today will work, you just have to phone them instead of using the internet.

We usually get our best deals by booking everything ourselves! We wait for West Jet Sales to LAX, then pick our hotels. Sometimes the best deal with hotels is on their website, and sometimes we get a better price by phoning, so I usually do both. Then we also ask for the CAA (AAA) discount, or other deals that they may have running.

Then we buy our hoppers, either through a travel agent, or Getaway Today. I believe you can also buy them at the Disney store, but I'm not sure if that's the same in Canada, or just in the States (never tried!) You can also use Airmiles (if you collect those) to buy hoppers. Check out their website under Amusement Parks - US

I used Getawaytoday for the first time for our upcoming trip in December. They were very helpful on the phone. I booked the hotel and park hoppers through them. As well, as the Character meals, as I knew the price was going up, and tickets to the San Diego Zoo. Best prices hands down. I then booked my airfare seperately. We actually are flying out Seattle. Even with booking a hotel near SeaTac for the night before and one for when we get home, plus parking, we still saved money from trying to fly out of Vancouver. Plus we can fly direct to SNA, and not go through LAX. I'm not a big fan of LAX. We booked through AA and it was just over $200 per person, round trip including taxes.

200 for the flight? If so, WOW! Looking today, from YVR to LAX was over 500 per person...

So what hotel did you book, and for how many nights?

I'm thinking we should be able to do 5 nights (with the 3 for 5 hoppers) ALL included for around 3000-3500???

Does that sound average...or am I nuts??

See, I'm a TOTAL newb at actually paying for travel....:rofl: This trip was kindof easy with a 5000 budget (Which we did not spend all of).
Now that it's not MIL's money...I need to learn to do it the frugal way

We booked the Best Western Park Place Inn for 9 nights, with 8 Day Park Hoppers (We like to take our time), 4 admissions to San Diego Zoo, 2 Character Meals and the flight for around $3300. So, for what you are looking at it should totally be in your price range. We got one night free for the time we are going from Getaway.

***I just checked AA and their cost has gone up considerbly. Now, $408 a person instead of $250 for the same flight I booked in August. So I just got in at the right time. You just have to keep checking.

Another related question....How much do you budget per day for food/souvenirs??

Edited to add....Oops, forgot to mention we're a family of 4. The kids are 9 and 6 and were thrilled with the 40 bucks or so (each) that we spent on our last night for souvenirs for them We didn't get any for ourselves...thats what all the pictures are for!

If you can, fly out of Seattle. We flew in January for approx. US$217 taxes incl. per person. West Jet goes via Calgary (WHY???) and AC is too expensive. Even now looking at January we can book a whole package through costco travel and airfare from Seattle, for almost what it would cost on AC.
