Best place to watch Wishes if you're not in a park?

We don't have a park pass for our first day but would like to see Wishes. We're staying at POR.

Couple thoughts:
-The beach at the Polynessian
-A pontoon cruise (with sound)
-TTC boat landing (never done it -- but they say the sound track is piped in)
-Contemporary (Restaurant/3rd Floor?/Outdoors)

The best place outside the park to watch is the California Grill, or the observation desk right off of it. The observation deck at the Contemporary would be, in my opinion, second best.

A kind of little secret place to watch is at the Grand Floridian. There's a strip of grass between Boca Chica and the lagoon, where you can spread out. It's not a beach or anything, and there are no chairs there, but you're much closer to the MK than the Poly. Also, from what I can tell, many of the fireworks are actually shot not directly behind the castle, but sort of to the west of the castle, and so you're directly in line.

I've watched from the boat dock behind Narcoosee's restaurant at the Grand Floridian. They let you leave your table to go outside for the fireworks and also pipe in the music. Very cool! :sunny:

I vote for the boat dock behind Narcoossee too. We had dinner at Citricos and then walked around the GF and found our way to the dock. Best view of the MVMCP fireworks. Once they were done, we hopped on the boat to MK right there and took the bus back to POFQ easily. The water parade was starting so we got to see part of it from the boat. cool !!

The poly beach, and GF dock are both good spots. You can save a lot of time and avoid the crowds leaving the park by taking a bus to DTD from either hotel, then transferring to a boat or bus to POR.

Poly beach is definately the best. One night on the last trip we were(coincidentally) on the boat from Fort Wilderness to the Contemporary and Wishes started. The boat driver slowed WAY down and we had a great view of the fireworks.

+1 more.

IMO, that IS the best place. You can hear the music and get out early to beat the crowds out of the park. :teeth:

Without a doubt - the dock area just outside GF snack bar by their boat dock. Plenty of seating - a clear view & much closer than the Poly. All the other mentioned areas are fine, but this is slightly less of a hassle to get to than Cal Grill.

Oh, Otto49! You are giving away a new secret that I found out about during our December 4-7th Grand Floridian stay. ;) Yes, it was awesome to see the new fireworks display for the Mickey's X-mas Party right up close and without obstructions in front of the Gasp. Grill foodcourt. The music was faint but you can hear it. There were plenty of patio chairs and tables. You could even sit on the brick steps leading to the marina area. It was so cool to purchase cups of hot chocolate from the foodcourt and sip while watching the fireworks.

California Grill - I only say this because it is the only place other than the park that I have seen wishes, but it was awesome!!! Great food and fantastic view.
