what are your thoughts and how far in advance do you get to these spots?

Back in 2016 we watched the afternoon and MVMCP parades at the bottom of the train station steps. In that area the sidewalk is pretty narrow so once you establish a spot people really can't stand behind you. You have a great view as the make the turn at Tony's and everything is very close as it passed by.
I think we got there about 20 minutes prior to the start times.

Main Street plan on 60 mins plus before for curb spot. It’s nuts anymore. I think best spots r on turns for floats come at u head on. Look at a map of the parade and check out those turns. I also think liberty square is a good spot cause people don’t stake out there really early.

Bit my thoughts r head on for turns so u can shoot pics head on and then to side. This way with head on shots I get some nice pics without a ton of people in background.

We watched it last year right by the shooting gallery (Frontierland, I think?) & arrived probably 20 min early. Great view with no one in front of us. My son was in a stroller & had a front row seat.

Liberty Square, just before it makes a right hand turn past Liberty Tree Tavern (on the right hand side) near the popcorn cart. The spot is big enough for maybe 10 people and just as the parade approaches the rope the cart off and stop the line expanding the area doubling it's size.
