For Christmas this year, I am giving my DH 12 months of "activities". He's always telling me that we never do anything and that we're too young to be in bed early on a Saturday night. So....this year I'm scheduling an "event" for each month of the year.

Anyway, for June, I want to schedule a night in Atlantic City but I don't know where to book that room. I haven't been to AC since they put the casinos in, so I'm clueless.

Any recommendations??

I also say the Borgata! Although I have only stayed a few other hotels in AC,the Borgata is definitely my favorite!:thumbsup2

What a nice idea! I love your gift, I bet your husband will too. :)

We go to AC often. I like Harrahs Marina but in June you may enjoy staying on the boardwalk so I would have a look at Caesar's. The location is perfect and they have that great Mall.:thumbsup2

Another vote for the Borgata. :thumbsup2

I've only stayed there once, on a business trip, but it was very, very nice. It's in the marina section, and is basically an island unto itself. Beautiful hotel. Oh, and if your a steak fan, you simply have to eat at Bobby Flay's while there. YYYYUUUUMMMMYYYY!!!! :cool1:

The Borgata is nice. Harrahs was renovated not too too long ago and has The Pool which is nice. Just google these places to check then out. Neither are on the boardwalk tho. On the boardwalk we have not stayed there but we have had a few winning nights at Show Boat!

That time of year I would suggest the boardwalk area. Either Tropicana or Ballys/Caesars. That is where we usually stay, but we always drive over to the Borgata for dinner at Bobby Flay Steak.

The Borgata is nice, but keep in mind that it's NOT on the Boardwalk and therefore not in walking distance to the beach, other casinos, shops, etc. We always stay on the boardwalk. Caesars is great; the rooms have been recently refurbished, and there are indoor corridors to get to Bally's and the Pier at Caesars; it is also located mid-boardwalk. The Tropicana is really nice too; there's a lot of great restaurants in the new Havana area like Carmine's, Red Square, PF Chang's, Cuba Libre, etc. They also just built a brand new tower at the Taj Mahal and it looks really swanky now.

The Borgata is nice but its pretty pricey. It's not really that close to any of the boardwalk though. There are some nice clubs there, mur.mur and mixx. If you want to do outlet shopping while your DH hits the tables or whatever, Caesers and Trump Plaza are both in walking distance to the outlet shops ( called the Walk ). They are both midtown casinos. They both have pretty nice rooms. Trump Plaza also has the Beach Bar which is basically an outside bar with music on the beach. haha! There is also the Pier at Caesers. So nice! lots of upscale shops like juicy couture, burberry, louis vuitton.. not in my price range but i digress. Parking for both those casinos is $5 if you have one of those casino cards that you put in the slot machines otherwise i think parking is $20. The Taj Mahal is uptown ( i always get uptown and downtown confused...). DBF went to the Taj once and then decided on dinner at the Rainforest Cafe at Trump Plaza.. one of the LONGEST boardwalk walks i've ever made when i was starving on an extremely humid night... the Trop is pretty nice too... they have some really good restaurants. Harrah's has a really nice pool. The name eludes me right now. There is also the Water Club, which is next to the Borgata. I know the Water Club is hotel only and ultra nice. It's brand new also. There is also the House of Blues at, i think Showboat.

Just going to expand on Mulan82's post a little bit... :goodvibes

Caesars and Bally's are both close to The Walk as well. The Pier at Caesars even has an Apple store. :lovestruc Yes, it *can* be a long walk from some of the casinos to another casino. Tropicana and Hilton are close; Caesars, Bally's, & Trump Plaza are close; and the Taj Mahal and Showboat are close. Parking is *free* at the Showboat if you have a rewards card of any level, but it's still $5 at Caesars and Bally's. Yes, the House of Blues is at the Showboat.

Sorry to put a damper on the Borgata lovers here, but I give that place a big N-O! When we go to AC, we want to be on the boardwalk, near the outlet walk, and the huge mall on the boardwalk. Unless you plan on spending your entire time there in the casinos! So I vote for either Caesers (yeah I spelled it wrong) or my new favorite, Showboat. Its further down on the boardwalk, but its a nice walk!

Have fun!

I'd go with Tropicana or Caesar's. I'm not a gambler, so I like those, because there is more for me to do while Dh wastes money, I mean plays the slots for a while. If you are looking for a nice non-casino place to stay, check out Atlantic Palace Suites. It's right on the boardwalk, and they have studios, one and 2 Br suites. We usually go to AC once a year for a concert and stay there. a 1br usually goes for $99-129/nt and a 2 is usually right around $200. We usually stay there in Oct. though, not sure what their Summer rates are. They are usually MUCH less than the casinos on a weekend though. If you are going mid-week, you can get a good deal at a casino.

I second the Borgata but I also like Trump Marina, although it's not on the Boardwalk, it's still very nice, or the Trump Plaza or Caesars. I personally would never stay at the Taj Mahal. Just too gaudy for me. Enjoy your trip!! That sounds like a great idea for a present!!

We stay at the Trop maybe 4 times a year. They have some good restaurants and unique shopping in The Quarter. Their email specials are awesome. We were just there last week for $59 plus a $20 food voucher. Excellent getaway for an excellent price!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think we'd rather be closer to the boardwalk and I am really just looking for a cheaper room that we can crash in so we can have some drinks and not have to worry about driving.

All those luxury accommodations would be nice if we were staying for a few days, but this is really only for one night. No sense paying big bucks for that, at least IMO. Of course, if we hit a jackpot, we can always upgrade!

Just be careful with cheap in AC. We did cheap once and would never do that again. I would really stay in one of the hotels suggested. We have gotten good deals at Caesars/Ballys and Tropicana.
