My fiance and I are having the hardest time trying to decide where to stay for our Disney World honeymoon. We both haven't been there in a very long time. We'll be going over New Years - till around Jan. 6. We thought it would be nice to stay at one of the deluxe hotels, either Animal Kingdom, but not a Savanna view or Wilderness Lodge. Then we thought maybe Saratoga. Or... a moderate resort, Port Orleans... Any advice would be very much appreciated! Help!:confused3 Thank you!

I love the Deluxe resorts, so AKL or WL would be great! We stayed at Villas at Wilderness Lodge in June when we were "legally" married. But, in January (for the big shebang) we were at GF during the festivities and then moved to Saratoga Springs for the Honeymoon. It was surprisingly nice and relaxing. The location next to Downtown Disney made it really nice for finding things to do in the evening...and the hot tub with a bar right there is great, too.

I would say I'd prefer a deluxe over a DVC Studio. I really LOVE the 1 BR, though, for the space, the king-sized bed and the jacuzzi tub!

But, the Poly is very romantic, too!

Oh, I didn't help you at all, did I?? I think it just depends on what you like to do and what atmosphere you find "romantic"

We really liked the Garden Suites at the Boardwalk. We stayed just a few night and then switched to a reg room. We did that because the Garden suites are pricey. But well worth it and we talk about it a year later and say it was the nicest room we have stayed in.

I would suggest being in the Garden Suite the night before the wedding, it was nice when my mom and I were getting ready, we had a ton of room.

I would say to splurge since you only honeymoon once. Its a trip you will remember forever so why not go all out - at least for a few nights?

As for which resort - I think depends more on your style. I would also consider which park you think you might want to spend the most time in. If you are a big MK fan then its great to stay on the monorail because 5 mins and you are there.

Same with Epcot - some of the hotels there like the boardwalk and yacht/beach club are great because you can take a boat or walk to the back entrance.

Animal Kingdom is great b/c its so different and just lots of fun. However its kind of far away from everything other than the animal kingdom park. Its much more secluded and takes longer by bus to get around. You can't really walk anywhere other then around the hotel itself.

Keep in mind that new years is usually very crowded - the parks will get much quieter towards the end of your stay.

Some people who can't decide choose to do split stays which is def an option unless you don't want to have to repack and check in again and stuff.

Oh and btw the French Quarter is one of my favorite hotels. Even though the only sit down restaurant is all the way over next door - its a very relaxed atmosphere. It could make for a great honeymoon - but if you can afford a deluxe hotel for even part of the stay I would go that route - just to make it a little more special.

I'd say Wilderness Lodge. It's really pretty at Christmas and it's close to the MK, just a boat. I'd also suggest Beach Club as it's close to Epcot and Studios.

We'll be staying at the BoardWalk Inn, probably in a Deluxe Club Level room. I really love the Epcot area resorts, especially BoardWalk and Beach Club in large part because of the transportation. We don't like driving ourselves or riding the buses. So we walk or take the boat to Hollywood Studios and Epcot and often jump on the monorail in Epcot to get to Magic Kingdom. We'll be staying Dec. 31-Jan. 7. We won't do a lot of swimming in January so we've chosen BWI. If we were going during the warmer months I would have chosen BC because of it's awesome pool complex.

Most of the Deluxe resorts are wonderful, my favorite being the Beach Club.

But we stayed at POFQ during our entire stay and we loved it.

Its small, quiet and has a very romantic walkway to POR. Also, there is a very nice boatride to DTD. My DH and i took the boat from DTD during sunset and it was so quiet & peaceful....very romantic!

Just another option if Deluxe doesn't work out!:goodvibes

I don’t know, I have a LOVE for the Grand Floridian, def. my FAVORITE hotel… I would stay there if I were you..lol
Its just so romantic:lovestruc

Off topic, we stayed at BW for our honeymoon and once before. The busses for the water park and down town disney don't show up all that often. Once we waited over an hour for Typhoon Lagoon. MK and AK come often. We learned a trick, if you have breakfast at any of the other Epcot hotels, grab the bus there. BW is the last bus on that busy line and some times the bus is to full and it takes forever for them to get another bus there. Its a huge problem for such a great hotel.

Good to know! Thanks. We've always taken the car to Downtown Disney.
