We are taking our first family trip to Disney World!! I wanted to find out where's the best place to stay for a family of 4? Two adults and two kids, ages 16 mos. and 6 years. Having the little one, we will be taking a break during the day for naps. We would like to stay around 7 to 8 days and see all the parks and possibly Sea World. We are planning on driving in from Wisconsin and are planning the trip for January. I have visited the disneyworld site and looked at all the resorts but there is just so many to choose from, it's incredibily overwhelming! Is there one that stands out for babies?
Any advise you have would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks a bunch!
Tammy

family of 4 is easy, there is no "best place" you will fit fine at any resort. :goodvibes what price range are you looking at? value, moderate or deluxe?

also, WELCOME to the DIS! i see its your first post. you will find a wealth of info on here and some great and helpful ppl!

I think it depends on the money you want to spend. Which park you are going to spend the most time in and what type of theme you might enjoy. We wanted somewhere we could go back everytday for 2-4 hours and take a break and not be on the buses forever. We stayed at the Wilderness lodge and loved it. My sons were 6 and 7. We all loved it. Another place I would love to stay is the Polynesian. But my kids favorite park of course was Magic Kingdom so this is also why this was a wise shoice for us.

Hope that helps

I've heard a lot about the Poly, does anyone have anything negative to say about their stay there? :confused3

We loved the Contemporary for each of our stays, you can not beat the convience of the monorail. We could easliy zip back for breaks or naps and be back at MK which is where we spent a good portion of our time although this time with DS9 we did spend more time in the other parks but still did MK and Epcot the most!

People have good and bad things to say about each one of the Disney resort sand even the ones on property, not run by Disney.

Most people select a resort based upon location, theme, personal preferences, park plans and most importantly...budget.

I think you really need to define your budget and what you are willing to spend on lodging...this is basically how Disney breaks out it's resorts (i.e., Value, Moderate, Deluxe). Once you do this the number of resort will be greatly reduced.

I would steer you to one of the four resorts (WL, PR, GF, CR)
- MK resorts provide easy transportation options to get to the MK
- Children within your kids age bracket prefer the MK over all Disney parks
- Monorail resorts are ideal to return for a mid-day nap and you can even take the resort yacht back at the GF and PR. 5-8 minute walk back to the CR

I think you should go to the best place that your budget would allow. Are you government, military, teacher, nurse? If so you could get "special" discounts at the Swan, Dolphin, or Shades of Green. . .if not then you need to decide whether you are a Value resort person, Moderate resort person or Deluxe resort person. At that point you can choose which resort is best for you and your family. Enjoy. Personally, if you are totally a deluxe person, I would pick the Swan or Dolphin simply for the best deluxe rates on property at the WDW. Just remember to factor in transportation as they do not offer DME.

Our family LOVES the Polynesian. The kids love the beach there too! If you google Tikiman Polynesian, he has a wonderful site that gives you all kinds of info. on the Polynesian! The rooms are big and the views from your balcony that are available (better ones cost more) are AWESOME! Good luck!
