Were going to be staying at Universal for a few days followed by a week at Disney. Is there a good place to buy groceries between Universal & Disney? We are driving.

Also, my parents are going to be skipping Universal so they will be at Disney a few days before us. What's your favorite online grocery delivery service? I've used Garden Grocer but I've been hearing good things about Safeway.

Your best bet is open up google maps, center on Universal and do a search for groceries. We try to pick one that's not too far out of the way. Our criteria is usually convenience.

Oh Lord, technology. :crazy2:
I'll give this a shot.

We’re looking into Amazon Prime Now for my parents. Does anyone have experience with them? Do you really only order 1 day in advance?

We used Amazon Prime Now during out most recent trip. You only can order the day of or day before.

One thing I did not like is that items come in and out of availability. So an item I want that they carried last week when I was exploring to see what they had may not be available today when i want to place my order. I f irst filled my cart about 6 months before our trip and checked it at least wweekly; things came in and out of availability all the time; it was rather frustrating.

So for the items I absolutely had to have I did an add-on to our Garden Grocer order, and then used Amazon Prime for things GG did not have and things where I had some flexibility [e.g. i didn't care which brand of bacon, so my first choice not being available was ok as there was option 2 available; but for the body wash, only one specific type was acceptable, so that we got through GG].

Well that’s a bit of a bummer. We ran a trial run yesterday, with Amazon Now, to come up with a shopping list. I’m glad I wrote down everything. I don’t like that you can’t submit it early but I bet it’s awesome for last minute people.

I’m also considering Safeway. They seem to have a large selection and good pricing. Plus, I can put in an order earlier than later.
Negative, I think I saw a reviewer say that they will remove out of stock items without notifying you. :(

I like Garden Grocer but my mom refused to pay the inflated prices. I may be ordering from them for myself. At least for the stuff I know I can’t do without.

I go to Winn Dixie (sp?) Its on Apopka Vineyard Rd, a couple lights up from the Hotel Blvd entrance into the "bubble".

There is a Goodings right at the entrance, but they are small and have tourist prices! Winn Dixie is just like my neighborhood grocery store. I get a case of water and some snacks for the room.

There is a nice Publix at Regency Square which is very close to the big outlet mall between Disney and Universal.

We have used the Publix and the Target off I4. Easy to get to and back on.
Have not used Amazon Prime for groceries. There ws a thread earlier that hotels were charging for taking care of groceries dropped off. No experience if this is happening.

Before our most recent trip I sat down with an Excel spreadsheet and made a list of everything we wanted, then went to thee Garden Grocery, Amazon prime pantry, Amazon prime now, and Instacart sites and priced everything out. No one site had everything we wanted. Instacart was almost always thee most expensive, so we dropped it from consideration.

In thee end I placed orders with Garden Grocer, Amazon prime Pantry, and Amazon Prime now. GG and Pantry got the things we absolutely had to have without substitution. Primw Now got the things that either the other two did not have or that there were alternatives. Doing it this way worked well for us.

I do wish Prime Now would let you make a "wishlist" and that they did not have things going in a ndd out of stock so often.

We actually walked to the Publix from Cabana Bay resort at Universal on our first night to stock up on basics. Now, I don't recommend that, because it was really not a great walk, but it was a 5-minute Uber back. Not sure if it's actually on the way over to Disney, but it can't be that far off the path.
