We are not staying at the campground, but want to drive over to visit the petting zoo, etc. Where is the best place to park?

Thanks!

You will have to park at the Outpost day guest parking area and catch the Orange bus to the settlement area. Make sure you take the second entrance to Fort Wilderness, not the main one that is used for returning guests and campers.

I don't think there is a petting zoo anymore but the kids can still ride ponies if they are small enough and you can go to the stables to see the horses.

Actually, you can take any bus that comes along marked Settlement (Orange, Yellow, Purple).

Honestly, I would take the Yellow as it has the fewest stops on the way through the campground.

Orange is now the WORST bus to take as it goes through the cabins AND down the middle.

Yikes! :scared1: Carol, what was I thinking?!! I was sending them to hell and back wasn't I! You would think that I would know better after being in 1300 in Nov. I HATED the Orange bus and usually tell everyone on here that at any given chance!

Must have had a brain fart!!!:rotfl:

The petting zoo has been gone for quite sometime.

Good golly miss molly- what is going on here?
No petting zoo anymore, no hammocks anymore, no pool bar (even when the pool was working read thread that it was never open), only refill drinks in ONE spot for the entire camp which IMO is ridiculous, AND not only is Trail's end giving less offerings for their buffets but also charging more on this surcharge increase thing?

wow.....

Not to mention the photos seem like the things they are doing at FW is taking down so many trees, adding more concrete, taking away sand areas, etc.- this is going to become nothing more than a parking lot that you can park your RV's at to camp or what?
:(
:confused3

I sent the following e-mail to Disney via their website & "Contact Us" link.

We have been frequent guests at Ft. Wilderness since 1974. We have noticed a tremendous decrease in not only the selection of, but the quality of the food served at the Breakfast Buffet and Dinner Buffet at Trails End.
Due to the fact that we are well acquainted with the Orlando area, we choose to go off property when we wish to have a meal.
A Food Court is long overdue at Ft. Wilderness - not the super-sized sites.
Unfortunately, I feel certain this will fall on deaf ears and that Ft. Wilderness will continue to be the "red-headed step child" of the Disney resorts. Too bad, when people pay as much for a cabin as they would the Poly or Contemporary, and they don't realize they are being treated so poorly in comparison to the other resorts.

If we can get enough people to send them e-mails, maybe things might change. If we only complain to each other - Disney thinks all is well in the Kingdom.

Give us that email address lady. If you want to go pet the animals you're gonna have to go to AK and get on a train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. There's a burro or 2 and a bunch of goats IIRC from last year. They took all the animals over to AK basically is what I'm saying. The Peacocks are not only destructive to paint but they leave their business all over as well. Good riddance of them. Now if I could just remember my 12 ga. shotgun when I go to the fort I'd get them dang otter's gone too.
