Good Morning! We will be taking another family to OKW this June. We will have 4 adults and 4 kids (threee of them teenagers) and will be staying in a 2 bedroom. We have tossed around the idea of getting a cab and taking the time to head to the grocery store to do some pretty major breakfast/snack shopping. But the more DH and I have been thinking about it, the more we feel it would be much less time consuming to simply order on-line and have the groceries delivered. We will have our friend's over before we head south and make a list of what we want. We have been to WDW many times and plan on the first full day at a water park, but our friends haven't been to WDW in quite a few years and I hate to take away any precious park hours to go to the grocery store.

My question is, which grocery service do you feel is the best for a fairly large order. $100-$200 order, some refridgerated items, possibly beer, etc....
Thanks!
Karen

We used gardengrocer.com last month. No problems at all -- just some confusion on the part of SSR as to who we had ordered from. Other than that, our groceries arrived as scheduled. Cold items were in a cold bag. Other items were in double paper bags. The bread arrived intact -- one of our big pet peeves to have a squished loaf of bread. Everything we ordered was there -- even the additional items we ordered which were not on the shopping list.

We'll use them again! :thumbsup2

Everytime we go, we use wegoshop.com...

DW and I are of the same opinion that we don't want to spend our precious vacation time out hunting for groceries....

One of the things that is nice about Wegoshop is the flexibility... You submit your order online via a text form... You can be as general or as specific as you want for brands, size, store, etc... (Keep in mind though that the pickier you are the more expensive your order may be because they may have to go to multiple stores to pick it up..)

Usually we give Wegoshop our cell phone number and that way they can give us a call when they are getting close so that we can be near the room...

We also use Wegoshop.com
The last time was in December of last year. It was right at the time they were changing owners and the new owner could not have been easier to work with. She charges a $17.00 delivery fee which would be cheaper then getting a cab.

I agree with that , somewhat OT , 3 years ago I went with friends we went for 7 days and we went to Gooding's ( I know , I know ) 4 FOUR times. I was just glad it wasn't my only trip to WDW or it would have been partially wasted.

Hi Cindy! Thanks for posting this information. Since we are using ME for our trip in May I wasn't sure what we were going to do for groceries. We talked about renting a car but this is seems so much easier. Do they have a referral program? I haven't checked out the website yet but will do so shortly. Do you know if they will they pick up beer or wine? Annmarie

Hi Annmarie,

I don't know about the beer and wine but if you call, I'm sure Brian will be able to answer your question. This was the trip we just took where I wasn't sure whether or not my DH was going with us. So, I ordered more breakfast/snack items thinking that if it was just me & the kids, we'd do breakfast in the room. And, my boys can snack anytime. ;)

I'm not sure about a referral program but we were happy with the service we received. There was a question on the part of SSR bell services -- they kept trying to get us to call the grocery option from our room phone. I kept saying we didn't use their service, but another one. Finally I called and talked to Brian directly about our groceries since they were not there when we checked in. Brian reminded me that I asked for a delivery between 4-6. We had no problem when we returned later that evening, everything was there. Our order totally about $70 and it was a $10 delivery fee. I believe for orders over $200 it's free but that would be a lot of snack for me to buy to spend $200.

I liked the fact that everything was packaged well and doubled bagged. The extra layer of bags was a nice touch which made carrying them even easier knowing that they'd be a little more protected.

We'll use them again -- just not sure when. For October, I have no plans of doing any grocery shopping since we'll only really be at WDW for a couple days.

We have used Goodings, when we didn't want to drive. The service was good. But as you know they reach deep into your pocket.

We went April 1st to SSR and were traveling with our DS 2 years old. Knew it was going to be a big pain to take him to the grocery. From all the positive posts about wegoshop, I decided to try it. I had a long list and tried to make it as precise as possible. Our flight was delayed so I called them and they were very nice about it. They came when we arrived at the hotel and were very professional. They tried to get everything exactly the way I had listed it. They went over the whole list with us and explained about the few items they had to substitute. We were very impressed and would definitely always use them for our future trips. Saved a lot of time and energy!

Hope this helps

We used wegoshop last month and had a great experience. Marge and her husband delivered our items directly to our room at BCV. We had scheduled a delivery time, but Marge was flexible and said to contact her in case our plane was delayed. Thankfully, it wasn't delayed. Marge provided the receipt from the store and went over the items with us. We did have some specialty items which she was able to deliver. (We can't find guava jelly in Minnesota!) We would definitely recommend wegoshop!

Dear Karen,
We visited SSR in December. We used Marge and WEGOSHOP. We had a great experience. When I did the research, I felt that this service was the most econimical for the service. A word of advice..... I was not specific about where they would shop. They chose Walmart which was good for better prices but the selection is very limited at Walmart. If you family is "picky" be very specific on your shopping list. The more specific you can be the happy you will be with the service. They were reliable and very accomidating with schedule. The small service fee is nothing compared to not having to do this chore on vacation. Maureen

We used Garden Grocer in March and will be using them again. We happened to be in our room when they arrived (we'd come in on a red eye) and they brought the food right to our room. The quality was great (we had produce and meat as well as other things) and we thought the price was very fair.We even added some things not on their website with no problem. We were very impressed!

We are also satisfied customers of wegoshop and Marge! We ordered from them in January, and Marge was fabulous about getting particular brands we wanted on a couple of things, as well as letting us know when she was running a few minutes late. Later that week, when my husband had to spend the night in Celebration Hospital for an emergency appendectomy (. . . the full story is worth a thread all by itself. I'll just say that the Disney folks at the Beach Club and elsewhere, the paramedics, the staff at Celebration hospital, and the very helpful people at Alamo who had to dea with a panicky wife were all very helpful, friendly, sympathetic, kind, sweet, and considerate. Happy ending.) Marge was very helpful in getting us what we needed to tide us over since we had to stay 2 extra nights. As they said at the hospital, if you can't have your appendix out at home, this is the next best place!

Anyway, thanks again, Marge!

Thanks to all for this helpful information. Although we do need to get groceries for the large group and bottomless pit kids, I just can't bear the idea of spending a few hours out of the day to go to the grocery store. I will certainly use one of the sites mentioned in this thread and think about the DIS when I have that extra time by the pool instead of at the grocery store!! :teeth:
