Hey all. We have an off day the first day we're there, and thought after an afternoon at the pool (after brunch with Goofy) we might venture into DTD for dinner. Where would you go, with two 7 year olds? We don't want fancy dining, just fun and good food. Also hoping maybe we can see the fireworks from DTD afterwards, to get good and excited for the park the next morning.

Thanks!
Kim

We like the Rainforest Cafe or Naples. Of course my kids also love Catal but it's spendy.

With two 7 year olds? Rainforest. Check out allears.net for menus and call them directly for reservations. You can join their membership online and that gives you a free appetizer or discount on your meal. Also, they will give you a priority seating with their membership without calling

We always do the Rainforest Cafe on our first night in Anaheim before we go into the parks the next morning. My kids love it there. We love to walk through the World of Disney store.....it gets us super excited for the next day.

We have also tried to watch the fireworks after dinner, but we have yet to find a good place to watch them from DTD. You can hardly see them above the buildings. Last year after dinner at the Rainforest Cafe we made it back to our off-site hotel before they started, and had a GREAT view from the balcony. You may want to plan ahead about where you will watch them, if it is imporant to catch them that first night.

Have a wonderful trip!!!!

Another vote for rainforest, we also do it the first night arival tradition.
Last trip we saw the fireworksfrom the pin trader store in DTD the best place to watch !
I was told by my friend at disney dining that a great view is the balcony at Jazz kitchen , get an 8:30 reservation .

How can you join there membership on line I can't seem to figure out how to submit it online? Thanks

I did mine here at our local joint. I saw where you could register online a few months ago. Maybe an advanced search would help

Another vote for the Rainforest! :goodvibes We love it, and my DS11 saves his spending money for the stuffed animals there. We would never miss it.

You can buy the membership when you get there. You get all the benefit immediately.

Sounds like the Rainforest is something of a tradition for many of you, on your first night there. I think I'll try to get PS and we'll give it a try. We don't have one here in B.C. so I have no idea what the place looks like or what the food is like. Should be an adventure!

Thanks for your suggestions :)

It's basically what the name suggests, a rainforest. Every so many minutes they have thunderstorms, this is when animals (Gorillas ect...) around the restuarant come to life. Move and make noise. Some very young kids can get scared by all of this. It's a very neat atmosphere.

Here's the menu to give you an idea of what they serve:

Yeah I don't think the Rainforest Cafe can be beat when it comes to kids the ages of yours!

I luurve Ralph Brennan's though! Just thinking about the Roasted Chicken Rosemary I had there makes me drool!!! :cloud9:

We use to have one here in Vancouver B.C but this was atleast like 7-8 years if not more back..... it was in metrotown where old navy is now! It was nice and pretty busy.... but i guess not busy enough cause it closed :lmao: ......... if i remember right it was alittle $$ here, but i was like 12-13 then maybe a few years older-younger then............. But then again everything is more $$ in canada then the states!

Yup Rainforest would be the best place. We also ate at the ESPN Zone and got a great booth with our own TV at the table to watch a NHL playoff game with our favorite team :)

Oh, if my hubby were going he'd definitely be interested in the booth with access to an NHL playoff game (go Habs!). I do seem to remember there being a Rainforest Cafe in Metrotown, now that you mention it Bonita_babe. We moved from Van about 5 years ago, and I didn't go to Metrotown ever when we lived there, if I could help it!

Sounds like the kids will have fun. We'll give it a try. Thanks again!

I think rainforest cafe is a great idea but for 2 additional options:

  • We LOVE ESPN zone they have great food and the arcade is awesome for kids.
  • Also if you sit outside at The House of Blues it is fun because there is all the DTD entertainment and people watching.

Have fun :thumbsup2

RFC is our tradition too! :) We love it there, ask to sit by the fish tanks if you're kids might get scared of the gorillas or elephants. It does get loud when the animals do their "thing" but my girls have always loved it! They also have outside seating upstairs, but there are no animals there.

We are actually going to try the ESPN zone on this trip too (in addition to the RFC of course!). My son and DH are huge sports fans. We always play the arcade games, but ds chose there to eat when I asked him where he wanted to. Hopefully we'll love it.

We really like Rainforest too but that age group would probably have a really good time at ESPN zone as well. Lots for kids to do including watching any one of like 100 TV's
