Where is the best place to get Disney Princess dresses for my daughter to wear when we go to Ariel's Grotto? I have been looking at Disneyshopping.com but they only have Cinderella. Can you buy them somewhere at Disneyland? If so, are they super expensive there? Is there somewhere else online that has a good selection? I hate to wait till we get there in case we can't get what she wants. She want to dress up like Aurora.

Buycostumes.com usually has a pretty good selection and most of their stuff is on sale now.

How comfortable is it for a child to wear these at the park? I'm sure my daughter would love to wear hers but I want her to be comfortable. We are planning a two day trip in Feb.

We bought our girls dresses from Disneyland last year, they were in the 55.00 to 75.00 range. Then with accessories, it adds up quickly. Over the past year, my youngest daughter, who is OBSESSED with everything Disney Princess has collected ALL the princess dresses except for Ariel. Most of them we have bought at Wal-Mart. Now I will say the quality of the dresses at Disneyland is MUCH better, but really, the life span of these things is not very long. And the dresses at Wal-Mart, which are still official Disney dresses are half the price. Usually 20.00 - 25.00. Then you could get the accessories in Disneyland if you wanted.

As for wearing the dress to Ariel's. Depending on where you stay, you can always go back to your hotel for a break and get changed. That's what we are planning.

Are they expensive at Disneyland? You bet!

We buy them elsewhere. Sometimes you can get them on clearance at Disney dot com. Other places we've found them is Toys R Us and Walmart and Target (but those are one size fits all).

Are they comfortable? Well, it depends on the dress. i've had to sew smooth ribbon in a couple of them around the waistline and around some sleeves because the fabric or trim inside was kind of rough, but they seemed to have figured this out and are making the dresses more comfortable. I always have DD wear them around home for a while to make sure nothing rubs. We do NOT wear fancy princess shoes in the parks with the dresses. She has to wear sandals or tennis shoes. She wears her princess dresses all day in the parks without problem.

ETA: I just bought the cutest Snow White dress at Walmart. Can't beat $20.

has anyone ever made these? I would love to find a costume for one of sleeping beauties fairyies but althought I have looked for over a year and I'm not much of a seamstress I am about to decide that is the way to go. I think then you could at least make them comfortable.

There are Disney patterns from Simplicity to size 8. Pattern numbers 5832 & 5835. My MIL will be making my daughters for our trip as DD is very sensitive to seams, tags, any stiffness, etc.

i just bought the same cinderella dress they had at the disney store for $40.00 @ Disneyshopping dot com for 19.99. They have a few good coupons right now, too. So, when I bought it - I actually got it for a little less. My dd was asking for a Cinderella costume from Santa. You'll have to watch the site. The prices do seem to fluctuate greatly day to day. I also bought us all new sweatshirts for our upcoming trip, for only 19.99 - the last time I was in DL I spent 52.00 on a sweatshirt!! So I thought that was good deal. We are going back January 2.

HTH!!

You can find the official park dresses second hand on ebay. I've paid $8-$15 for them, often with their accessories. It's quite a savings!

My daughter has run around DL in her Snow White dress for 2 days, then DW for 8 days in various dresses. She loves it, the cast often will call her princess and it really makes the trip even more special for her. Most of the dresses give her no problems, but if I could give some advice it'd be to have her wear a tank top, and shirt under them...so that if she gets tired, hot, needs to potty or you're doing something messy it's quick to strip her. Also some of the dresses, such as the cotton minnie mouse dress are more comfortable than others, and it is the easiest to put in a backpack. The sleeping beauty one I think is the worst quality, it's got those sheer sleeves and slides off the shoulders so I pin it. And all the little accessories like the crown and wand can loose their charm fast, they spend most of their time in my backpack, and I've never bothered with the shoes they look too uncomfortable for a day at the park.
This year I picked her up an Elizabeth Swan costume from the disneystore for $11 on sale. She hasn't seen it yet, but I think it'll be nice for her to have something with pants. Although she might not find it as exciting as being a princess.

The princess fair in Fantasyland had all the dresses and accessories one could ever want!
