best place to buy milk

In order to save our snack credit we've decided to do cereal breakfast in our room this trip ...... so my question is where's the easiest and more importantly the cheapest place to get milk ..... shop in the hotel, shop elsewhere on Disney property or Hess ??

think the hotel prices are quite reasonable for staples so milk is around the same price as supermarkets.

Don't buy it from the food court buy it from the resort shop as you get a huge bottle for the same price as a small one.
We do that and also a loaf of bread to toast and just get the butter and jam from the food court. You can also buy a big cream cheese from the shop for the same as a small one in the food courts.

I second the recommendation to use the resort shop rather than the food courts for the reasons stated above.

Also, the foodcourts have toasters which we have made use of in the past - not to save credits, but just because I like a toasted cinnamon bagel and they were only about $2 a pack in the resort shop. We keep them in the fridge in the room and just toast them in the morning.

Wow that would have been so much easier for my mum in the past! whilst the boys LOVE mickey waffles and pancakes for breakfast "most" mornings my mum only really likes to have a slice or 2 of toast,if only id known she could use her own instead of buying a portion of bread each morning......the things you learn

also the boys in the middle of the last trip came across Lucky Charms and ate them for about 5 nights in a row until the box was finished!! we always got our milk from the resort store.

we always use the toaster for bread we have purchased from the shop...you have to be very patient with it though as it can be a tad slow

The day we arrive we basically raid the food court for cutlery, napkins, jams, butter etc and then go to the store to get the bread, english muffins, packs of cereal, bagels and milk. We do of course, take our own teabags The next morning we are set..I send DH off to toast the bread and put hot water on the teabags..!!

You could also try the Hess gas station at DTD.
It's just on the other side of the road. At entrance #2 (pleasure island westside)

I don't know if it will get cheaper than the resort shop though

I don't find this funny - just because you fly PE or stay deluxe doesn't mean you want to pay Disney over the top for milk.

Resort store or Hess will be your best bet. The resort stores at resorts with DVC have a wider selection of groceries too for reference

Unless you are going for anything else and have a cool bag I wouldn't go to Hess...Far easier to stick to your resort shop for milk. Even if its cheaper in price at Hess the time and trouble rules it out on a frequent basis...Unless, as I said your are off to stock up on other items, which I doubt if you are on the dining plan.

I am so glad that you had your evening brightened at the expense of my family ..... actually I don't find your comment funny at all. You have no idea of our family circumstances or why we choose to fly PE. You have no idea how we pay for it and for your information we use M+M. I work full time and my husband works 7 days a week, neither of us smoke or drink and we rarely go out. What we choose to spend our money on is family holidays and we choose to spend it wisely in our eyes. Every family has different priorities and buying over priced milk is not high on my list when I can use that money to buy my children or my husband something.

This board is for Disney people to share their experiences, give advise, ask questions and generally enjoy Disney when we're not there. I wouldn't dream on commenting on how you choose to spend your money, neither would I mock you if you asked what I thought was an inane question all I ask is that you afford me that same thoughtfulness

Just thought I would reply.......I am very sorry if I have upset you and agree that nobody else knows anybody else's financial or family situation unless the info is shared. I didn't mean to cause offence and I suppose the saying is true....if you look after the pennies, the pounds (dollars) will look after themselves. I was of the thinking that you know when there is a great offer on petrol but you have to drive 10 miles to the station thereby annulling the saving made and time taken to go and get it......that sort of thing. It is a great idea though to save time and money and dining points by self catering where you can.

the resort shop also carries large boxes of cereal (eg. in the OKW resort shop) and other good breakfast foods (bagels, bread, cheese etc).

we always buy milk, cereal, juice, and bagels and keep them in the room for breakfast.
we'd much rather have breakfast in the room than out...

in my experience, the only resort shop that doesn't have a good selection of items like that is at pop century. At all the other resorts we've stayed at, there was a nice selection in the resort shop..

I didnt find it funny either, We always save where we can when we can so that we can afford to do nicer things" it doesnt mean we have money to burn" normally quite the opposite..........

I also agree the resort shops are of a reasonable price for milk but I plan on packing my own cereal because it is cheaper over here and will guarantee room in my suitcase when we come back but on another note I have IBS and don't like changing my breakfast cereal as it can cause digestive problems. I did find the resort shops a little on the expensive side for snack type food (chips & dohnuts) so hoping the HESS stocks these.

We intend on a trip over to the HESS garage at DTD for beers as I have been led to believe you can get a 6 pack at the HESS for the price of 1 bottle in the resort shop.

We also have been known to take cereal but it really isn't that expensive in the resort shops but its just the lack of choice. The best resort store we found for essentials was the one at The Boardwalk and then you have the other bonus of the bakery store as well (ooh the cupcakes)

reason is its a DVC resort and all the DVC resorts have grocery shops located in them.

just read something on mousesavers stating that the HESS station's prices for a 1/2 gallon of milk were a bit higher than some resort hotel shops.

might be worth comparing prices first.

re: beer. What about this rumour saying that you're not able to buy more than 2 bottles of beer per adult (21+) at resort food courts ?
