Best place to buy ipod Touch?

Is it best to buy directly from Apple or is Best Buy okay? I'm thinking mainly of warranty, service plans, etc. Is it worth buying the extra protection plan? I know the price will be the same for the ipod Touch at either place. I'm paying cash and don't want to order online.

I don't see why you shouldn't buy from Best Buy? The price for the Ipods are basically the same everywhere else. Have you checked Amazon - free shipping and no tax as well, and Amazon lets you pay from your checking account, so it is just like cash.

Hi. I just bought our DD14 one directly from Apple. They have free shipping AND free personalization. I had her name plus another line engraved.

I just bought one for each of my 3 kids for Christmas.
I didn't personalize because I wasn't sure if they could be returned if they were inscribed.
I just bought it on the Apple site.

I bought mine from Amazon with a $100 coupon from Audible. If you sign up for the Audible Plan ($14.95 a month) you get the coupon. We listen to TONS of audio books, so this works out very well for us.

I don't know about extra protection plans (I've always heard they're pretty much a waste of time regardless of what you buy), but as far as the general warranty, it doesn't matter where you buy it b/c Apple will honor it. I bought my Ipod at Target and the charger decided it did not want to work anymore for some reason. I took it to the Apple Store and they gave me a new charger b/c it was still under warranty.

I just bought the 8gb Touch for DD14 today at Best Buy. I went with Best Buy because price was the same everywhere, but BB has the Reward Zone.

We opened it up, and we are getting it ready for when we give it to her at her party Sunday night. This thing is so cool! We are planning to put a few music videos on it. I'm so excited to give it to her! I hope I can hold out until the party.

ETA: I didn't buy the extended warranty that was an extra $60. I asked if various scenarios would be covered, and the sales person said no. It sounded like it basically only covers if it were to malfunction on its own without any help from the owner.

It is also compatible with her chargers that she has already for her Nano. She thinks she has to have half a million chargers so it was good to know the ones she already has can be used.
