Hi,
I just recently found out that there are places out there to get vouchers for DL character meals for a little less cost.
Where is the best place to do this?
Or is it still best to use our AAA card or DVC card?

Thank you much!

Talk to someone at your local AAA office. I went in to ours and was told by the agent that I could buy vouchers for the Princess dinner through them. I am not sure whether or not you also have to buy parkhoppers too, but it was not dependent on buying a whole package because I told her we already had the hotel. The vouchers from AAA for character meals are $25.60/adult $14.45/child for breakfast and $25.60/adult $17.80/child for Lunch/Dinner at Ariel's Grotto. These prices are for Goofy's Kitchen (brunch or dinner), Lilo and Stitch Aloha breakfast in PPH, Chip 'n Dale's Critter breakfast in Storytellers GCH, Minnie & Friends breakfast in Disneyland at Plaza Inn, or princess lunch/dinner at Ariel's Grotto CA.

These prices seem low to me but that's what is on the info sheet I was given.

This is the price I paid on Wednesday 7/23 for my vouchers from AAA for a Character Breakfast Buffet for 4 adults and 1 child...$116.85 (4 x 25.40= $102.40...plus 14.45= $116.85) they are good for Plaza Inn- Lilo & Stitch Breakfast- Goofy's Kitchen- Storytellers Cafe includes tax and gratuity...thought this was a very good price...Northern California AAA.

All AAA offices are regional and have different offers. Which regional area did you go to?

Thanks.

I'm in Chico (N CA).

Also note that the vouchers include tax and gratuity, so there is no other cash needed for the meal.

Edited to add: I'm not sure that is still true! It was true for the vouchers last year, but I don't see any mention of it in the brochure so I'm not positive about the tax and tip being included now.

How much do you really save using vouchers? I'd rather just pay when/if we eat than pay for the vouchers ahead of time and have to eat the vouchers should something happen and we are not able to do the character dining! :thumbsup2

I guess it depends on how many are in your party. With 5 of us, the vouchers saved us a lot last year ($50, as I recall, plus the tax and tip included may have added more value, though I'm not sure whether tax and tip were included in the "walk in" price). It might not be worth it to you, though, if you thought you might not be able to go to the character meal during your stay. It would be a lot of money to throw away. The voucher is good for several months, btw.

Thanks. I'll check with the So Cal AAA office tomorrow. There'll be six of us, so any savings will be great.

Thank you for the tips. I'll check my AAA :)

DizMe the tax and gratuity is included this year...stated on the back of the vouchers...jc

I paid 135 for 3 adults and 2 kids. When we got our receipt at the door, it stated our meal was *worth* 175, this included a $20 tip for our server who we saw twice. :confused3

This was dinner, at Goofy's Kitchen.

I did not look as closely to everything at Storytellers at breakfast, but we also left cash on top of it as a tip.. because that server when above and beyond and rocked. :thumbsup2

I think it was well worth it. I ordered from GAT. There was a problem when I went to the ticket booth, it had to do with the date, or something, but they called GAT and fixed the problem for me. I couldn't of been happier. I would do it that way again in a heartbeat.

According to the AAA rates, this same dinner at Goofy's would cost $105.70, so AAA seems to have a really good deal. You don't have to pick up your vouchers, either--you have them before you leave, whereas the GAT vouchers are sent to the hotel or something like that.

oh good to know I'll have to check out AAA as well to see what they offer in WA.

I was told that So Cal AAA offices are not authorized to sell DL admission and/or Character dining tixs w/out purchasing a package that includes a hotel stay.

That's a dumb policy, since those who live in SoCal are least likely to NEED a hotel stay!! I wonder if you were given some misinformation? You might check with someone else and see if you get the same story!

Then again SoCal residents have acess to deals that would net them tickets far cheaper than what AAA offers! ;)

Does the AAA include tax and tip?

WHen I was looking.. AAA offered 10% off, so GAT was the best deal at the time.

Picking up the vouchers was really no trouble. I was pleased when there was a problem, that Disney went out of their way to solve it. Many companies would tell me that I had to make the call, and find the answer.
