Get this Canon EOS Rebel T3 Bundle, listed at $1048.99, for $491.06 with free shipping after $400 mail-in rebate (your in-cart total will be $891.06). The bundle includes the 12.2MP D-SLR Camera with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II Inkjet Photo Printer, a filter kit, a gadget bag, and a lens cleaning kit. The best price we could find for just the camera and lens was $445 and the next best for the printer was $299.99. There is no tax (except in NJ).

I got one for Christmas - the Cannon t3i - LOVING it - though still trying to figure it out! Got it form a local Camera Shop in Iowa - better package price then big chain stores plus you get to talk to someone that knows cameras and have support down the road!

Not sure if you got your DSLR yet, however, we always get our cameras and accessories from B and H Photo out of New York. We have always ordered through their website and have gotten prices that no store around us could match and their customer service is great! The cameras always came shipped to us promptly and packaged perfectly! Now DH and I are considering buying another digital camera from them and it is going to be a waterproof one.

No, I haven't gotten one yet, so I'll definitely check the sight out, thanks. I found out that the only camera store in town has closed so the only guidance I'm getting is from you guys and reviews! it sounds like I really can't go wrong with either, but I change my mind on a daily basis about which one I want... Save the money or bells and whistles?! I'm leaning more towards to the t2i or t3i, but I'll look and see what the sales are tomorrow! Thanks again for all the tips!

Amother vote here for B&H in NYC. It is the only place DH will buy his cameras from.

He sold his SLR and bought a point and shoot that is a good camera but he hates it because it is so much more limited to what you can do. He is looking to get a SLR again.

Good luck :)

The best price I have seen is $449.00 at Sears.com on Christmas Eve. I used ebates.com for 6% back at the time for the T3.

Not sure about this camera since I don't use anything but point & shoot but it looks to be a good price compared to the same camera at amazon.

Canon EOS Rebel XS 10.1MP SLR Digital Camera with 18-55mm IS Lens $399

I definitely agree with you, entirely. The 50 mm is awesome.... but it's definitely not the only lens you need. I would love a f/2.8 with a decent zoom... but it just isn't in the budget right now. Maybe next Christmas. ;)

I brought my nikon d3100 from B& H electronics in NYC. let me tell you they are absolutely the most knowledgable people I found around.

You can webchat with them and ask them just about any question.

FYI, the owner is a wonderful man but he's an orthodox Jew so the store is closed on Saturdays, so you cant webchat or call on Saturday.

Also, personally I would start with a kit. is this your first dslr? get to know your camera off of automatic first before spending more money on lenses.

lastly when I want a new lens, I rent it first.

This is a great company. they ship you whatever lense you choose, you play all you want and then return. they offer cheap insurance so you don't have to worry about breaking the lens.

I rented a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens for 1 week. the rental was 14 bucks plus 6 dollars for insurance. very fun way to explore a new lens before buying it.
