OK, last big gift on the list. We've decided to buy our oldest DS an IPAD mini. I have to shop today.

Don't know if you'd be interested in the regular iPad2, but QVC has it as the Special of the Day. Only $549 (may $599) but it includes a lifetime tech plan, a keyboard/case, 16GB, wifi, and lots of other accessories. Regular price was something like $1,100. Seemed like a good deal.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend getting an ipad 2, it is 3 generations ago.

Apple.com has these new for $399 and refurbished for $325.

I would buy one from Apple.com if I were buying and pick out my own keyboard/case as the ones on QVC are 3rd party.

We did the iPad mini deal at target. Paid with a red card so 5% off there. Stacked it with another 5% off coupon, as well as price matched to Toy's R Us which had it for cheaper than the advertised $299 (I think it was $259 at TRU). The plain iPad mini will meet the needs of the kids we bought it for.

Well I went to Target and was shown the policy for "holiday promotions" since this item is considered a holiday promotion price matching is excluded...sucks

I would really recommend buying at Target though. They have great extended warranty. Better coverage and pricing than Apple Care. And with 5% redcard savings ...

It's hard to get good deals on current model Apple products, as they are fairly good at controlling their pricing.

I was finally ready to bite the bullet at Target since they are offering 10% off this weekend as an apology for the credit card breech, but Apple is excluded.
