I need to buy a new battery for a Canon XSI. My daughter's camera will be two years old in July. She has two but they are not holding a charge as long as they once did. When she is snapping a lot of photos the camera starts giving her a busy signal which stops when a fresh battery is put in.
Where do you order from?

Thanks,

Penny

You can find some cheap off-brands on Amazon. They'll work just as well as the Canon ones.

That is one of those items, like filters and batteries, where most electronics stores will mark up to offset the cost of their DSLR's and other low profit margin items.
Unfortunately, you will likely have to bite the bullet. Maybe Walmart might have something....but Wolf, Ritz, bestBuy, Cicrcuit City...all those places are smoking crack with their high priced accessories, IMO.

when you say she shoots a lot of pics, do you mean in rapid succession, that sounds more like a full buffer, than a bad battery

Be aware that if you are in a hurry the Deal Extreme folks are not the speediest bunch. They are based in Hong Kong, appear to be a distributor for a bunch of mainland manufacturers and apparently don't keep stock on hand. So the result is you have to wait while they assemble your order from the manufacturers.

For example - I ordered a number of items on the 24th of February and they did not ship the order until March 13th. They ship by email so nothing has arrived yet.

They do have what seemed to be excellent prices and a massive variety of stuff. Assuming what I ordered turns out ok I will probably order from them again, but it is quite a bit different than the 2 or 3 day time between the 'ordering' and 'in my hands' turnaround I'm used to with Adorama.

Agreeing with this, Deal Extreme has been terrible lately. Of my last 2 orders, one took 6 weeks to arrive and the other one didn't come at all. As far as batteries go, I picked up 2 spare batteries for my 50D on ebay, from a US-based seller. It cost about $3 more than the Hong Kong sellers, but I had them in 7 days vs. 3 weeks.

You can check out Gadget Infinity

I've ordered a few things from them with no problem....usually takes a couple of weeks for delivery though

*No one* knows what is in the 3rd party batteries and *no one* can say if they are the same as Canon's batteries. Most of them are probably ok, some are probably not.

As someone mentioned, this does not really sound like a battery problem anyway. Is the battery indicator showing a low charge? If it is the battery then I prefer to buy them at Amazon or B&H.

On some photography boards, the topic of 3rd party batteries can turn into quite the heated debate.

That being said, I have purchased batteries for both my Rebel XT and my 50d from both Sterlingtek and Diamond Back Battery. Used them for years and can't tell the difference between those and my official canon batteries.
