Best place in DLR to watch fireworks from outside the parks

My family and I are arriving on a Saturday late afternoon in January for 6 nights. We are staying at the Villas at the Grand Californian. We are buying 5-day Park Hoppers, meaning we won't be able to go in the parks on our arrival night. That's not a problem, as it will give us a great opportunity to walk around the resort hotels and Downtown Disney. We are planning on eating that night at Goofy's Kitchen.

But with Disneyland only having fireworks Friday-Sunday in January, we will only get two shots at viewing them, one of which is our arrival night. What is/are the best place(s) DLR guests can go to view the Disneyland fireworks, similar to the Grand Californian's 6th floor Viewing Deck for watching World of Color, where they pipe in the music.

Thank you in advance!

A few years ago I was down there for a family reunion. We decided to go to DL to watch fireworks, so we all stood in the hub between the two parks. It was perfect :) And free :) I would think that would still work.

You can see them out in front between DL and DCA. Or you can watch them from the top floor of the Mickey and Friends parking structure. I like watching them from there. The only thing is they don't have the sound piped in from DL to the parking structure.

I seem to recall that the fountain area in Downtown Disney, near the House of Blues, was an "ok" spot.

That sounds great. Can you hear the music ok from there?

You could add a day to your ph's for $5(?) each and go in your first day as well.

For folks paying full price for a 5 day park hopper, that might be true. But I get a 10% discount at work, so I'd have to lose that discount to upgrade. My work only sells up to 5-day passes.

You can get a pretty good view of them from Downtown Disney between House Of Blues and Jazz Kitchen. In fact if you wanted to view them while eating dinner, you could reserve the top deck of Jazz Kitchen and get a nearly unobstructed view (from a distance obviously) so long as you get a table close to the edge.

I don't remember if there was music, but I think so. Of course they've changed things and I don't know if you can hear anything now. However, seeing them is still worth it :)
