Our next trip to WDW coincides with my birthday. My DH has said to pick somewhere for the 2 of us to go to dinner alone. I don't think we want Victoria and Alberts because we dont want to have to pack the dressier clothes. We have eaten at both California Grill and Flying Fish and loved them both, but want to try something new. We are fairly adventurous eaters. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge. This is a wonderful place for a very nice dinner. The menu is a little eclectic -- ever tried buffalo steak? I highly recommend the cedar plank salmon -- a large serving of fresh salmon roasted & served on a cedar plant -- delish! The Yukon Gold potatoes are a wonderful change of pace from typical Idaho potatoes.

The berry cobbler for dessert is a little slice of heaven -- but it may be hard to finish it all. The cobbler is covered with fresh seasonal berries, whipped cream and a scoop of ice cream. One serving could easily serve 2 people, but even if you are full from dinner, it'd be hard to share this. :o

The dress there is resort casual, so you don't need to dress up. Some tables have a view of Bay Lake. The service is attentive without being intrusive.

I Love salmon! This particular dish sound great! Also, berry cobbler is a favorite! Thanks for the tip!

We were pretty disappointed in Artist Point. You can see if you'd like why in the review in my sig.

I've never been, but I'd suggest Jiko. It's African cuisine, the menu seems fairly adventurous, and the atmosphere is nice (from what we've seen passing by).

From places we've been, we loved Le Cellier for both the food and the quiet, romantic atmosphere. It's our favorite on property restaurant. We just went to Spoodles, and I haven't had a chance to do a review on it yet, but the food was wonderful, and there was a nice selection of non typical foods.

Thanks for the info. I read some of your other reviews too, they are great!

DH and I ate the MGM's Brown Derby for our anniversary and thought it was one of the best meals we have ever had. If I can remember what we ordered, I will post here but I do remember the Cobb Salad and it was delicious:) You should check out the menu on allearsnet.com:)

Speaking of your love for salmon, here is what we had:

Appetizer: Cobb Salad for Two with chopped greens, turkey breast, bacon, egg, tomatoes, crumbled bleu cheese, avocado, and Cobb dressing $12.99
DH had: Grilled Atlantic Salmon on sweet corn risotto with oven dried tomatoes, fresh chervil and balsamic butter sauce $19.99
I believe I had: Spiced Pan Roasted Pork Tenderloin with white cheddar grits, melted chard, natural pan juices and warm stone fruit compote $21.99
DH and I split: White Chocolate Raspberry Mousse served in a dark chocolate swirl and Bonny Doon Framboise Chantilly $6.79

You will not be disappointed - let us know what you decide!!
:scratchin

Thanks for the info, that sounds great too! Maybe we will do the Fantasmic dinner package since we have never seen that. We have been afraid that it will scare the kids. Maybe that would be a good time to do it since they will be with my parents for the night.

My dh and I love Artist Point. We eat there every trip, just the two of us. I think the food is excellent. We've never had a bad meal there. The Chef's Selection menu is great...it allows you to sample their soup (portabello mushroom...to die for!), salad, the entree, and the dessert. It was $47 pp when we were there in May. Considering the prices of the entrees and the berry cobbler alone, I think it was a great value. My dh had the buffalo sirloin and loved it. I had the beef and it was cooked to perfection.

The berry cobbler is wonderful, as was the Coffee two ways. My dh and I split each of them!

I highly recommend it!

BF and I also enjoy Artist Point and had our "last WDW dinners" there on our past couple of trips! (This year we're breaking tradition and going to Boma though.)

I also thought the Cedar Plank Salmon was excellent, and BF had the Buffalo steak which was great as well. Our meals there have also been terrific, and the atmosphere nice, but not "stuffy." No need to bring special clothes to have dinner here.
