I know I've posted a similar question here before, but I still can't decide what to do!! :rotfl:

We have an ADR at Fultons for dinner, which I've read so very many mixed reviews about. We want to get their ultimate crab and lobster for 2. Is there anywhere off-property to get something similar that serves good quality lobster and crab but not at Disney prices? Kid-friendly prefered...

I've asked about seafood before, but a lot of "seafood" places are more shirmp and fish than crab and lobster. :)

It's hard to find good seafood in Florida. We LOVE Fulton's Crab House. They have the best King Crab Claws! Although it is pricey, you will not be disapointed. I would Keep you ADR!

Good lobster and crab is even harder to find in Wisconsin :rotfl:

And I'm keeping the ADR for the duration... if we change our minds I'll call and cancel it, but I'm keeping it as long as possible (up until 24 hours beforehand, of course)

We recently went to Fultons and loved it. The best crab claws we've ever had. We will definitely go back again.

If you will be on your honeymoon, then you absolutely have to treat yourselves! Great atmosphere, great wine selection along with the great seafood. We arrive for our WDW vacation on Aug 17th, the day you go home. We already have our ADR's for Fulton's. Have a WONDERFUL "Disneymoon"!!

My sig is slighly inaccurate... those are the days we'll be at WDW. I didn't include our travel days, because we're driving :) We actually leave the evening of the 5th, and get back home the evening of the 19th.

It's good to hear people actually recommend Fulton's :goodvibes If you do a seach for it on here, you hear so many bad things :sad2:

I also think the girls would like the build your own sundaes... it'd be a good reward for them for behaving well in a "fancy" restaurant (for them anyway!) And yes, I know we could hire a sitter, but that's really not the route we want to take with this trip. We get plenty of "alone time" when the girls are with their mother (it's a 50/50 custody arrangement) so paying someone a lot of money to watch them for a few hours when we could be spending time with them seems silly. :) Agree or disagree all you like, I know we want them to be there :upsidedow And besides, it's Disney, about the only place you'd be surprised to see kids dining would be Victoria and Alberts. princess:

Thanks for the well-wishes all!

The girl's will enjoy it. They will get to eat on "a big boat". I would request a window view if at all possible. After dinner, there are lot's of things for them to do at DTD. Lego land is great! They have an outdoor set up of all different lego's at the Lego store. The girl's could play there for a while after dinner.

That's pretty much the plan :) We're driving to the beach in the early morning, taking an afternoon "break" (at least for them!) driving back "home" and then a little down-time in the condo, then heading over to Fulton's for dinner and DTD afterwards :wizard:

We both thought they'd like the "big boat" too. I'll be sure to ask for a window seat! Thanks for the tip.

Primarily because shrimp and fish are native to the Florida region where crab and lobster are not. Different varieties of crab come from different regions and lobster comes from the northeast primarily.

And there are actually two kinds of lobster - warm-water and cold-water. New England lobster is definitely cold water. I'm not sure where warm-water lobster is harvester. I think it's from the west coast. Any lobster you get in Florida will be shipped in and not fresh off the boat, so it's never quite as good as it would be if you were sitting on the water in Maine.

Well very little in life is better than lobster fresh off the boat in Maine! ;) We're talking about going there for an adults-only trip one of these summers when the girls are older (something like this maybe!) for an anniversary/second honeymoon kind of trip. I  Maine.

But point taken. It's still the meal we want to have! And crab is frozen almost no matter where you go (though I'm sure there are some places in the Pacific northwest that serve it fresh) because they freeze it as soon as it comes in due to easy spoilage issues. But what you say makes sense about Florida and seafood. We like fish well enough, but if we're going to spoil ourselves with a nice seafood dinner, lobster and crab are it!

Looks like a nice "second honeymoon" option.

I'm somewhat spoiled - since I live in Massachusetts and have for almost my entire life. My sisters live in Illinois now and I don't know how they do it. I need access to fresh seafood. But the good thing is that I love to try different varieties of fish wherever I go, so I look for regional seafood dishes when I'm traveling. I can't really recommend anything at WDW as I can't think of any outstanding seafood that I've had on-site. The fish & chips at England in Epcot was good, but that's not what you want. LOL

Little story: in-laws were up from NJ over the weekend. IL's wanted seafood, so we went to a seafood place and they ordered Alaskan King Crab legs...then after dinner, their comment: although they enjoyed it, they just weren't really fresh. Imagine, Alaskan king crab legs not being fresh in Massachusetts. :confused3 When she said they wanted seafood, I thought she meant New England seafood - silly me.

I am going in a few weeks and I am going to try the Ultimate Crab & Lobster Exp. for two. It sounds really good! I think it's great that you are going to be bringing your kids with you. My DD loves crab! She is looking forward to it just as much as my DH.

Well I doubt they'll eat crab (though I'm sure we'll let them try it!) it's more we just want to include them in everything. Trust me, if we wanted to go out for a fancy meal just by ourselves, we'd do it a night that they're at their mother's house. I also feel like they miss out on a lot of things because of this schedule, because it's so much easier to go out to eat, go grocery shopping, etc etc, while they're away. So I make it a point to try and include them on these kinds of activities when we can. Not always, but often enough so that they're not left out.

Unfortunatly, I'm seeing a lot of chicken tenders in our future for the younger one... :sad2: Oh well, her sister used to be a picky eater, and now pretty much eats whatever you put in front of her. There is hope!! Though said older sister did try shrimp (peel'n'eat, not deep fried) one time at a buffet we went to, and immediately spat it out. So it may be awhile before either of them comes to appriciate seafood! As opposed to certain other little girls I once knew, who liked things like shrimp, lobster, and duck when she was 6 or 7... :rolleyes1

. . . Good lobster and crab is even harder to find in Wisconsin . . .

You think Wisconsin is tough?
Have you tried to find them in Iowa?

NOTE: I went to school in Wisconsin, and found we could get good lobster and sea food in Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay. Of course, in Green Bay in the Winter, the fish is fresh and the people are frozen.

The first time I went to visit my sister in Illinois, I took a trip over to the grocery store. I think I walked around the store twice looking for the seafood department. When I got back to her place I commented that they didn't have one. She pointed out that it's in the freezer section. DOH! Growing up in MA, I was just used to all of our grocery stores having a fresh seafood department. I never thought they wouldn't have those in the midwest.

Now this year, it seems that the fresh seafood department at our stores is going away. You can get somewhat fresh, but there isn't a guy standing behidn the counter ready to weigh things out for you, and I think the lobster tanks are gone too. Thankfully though, we have a fish market not too far from us so I can still get the good stuff.

We actually have a decent (though small) fish market, complete with lobster tank and (sometimes) sushi grade tuna. But it's not somewhere I'd shop on a regular basis, just when I'd want something special.

So true about mixed results at Fultons.

My wife and I had the lobster and crab for two at Fultons--
She loved it!!
I, on the other hand was tired of all that cutting and digging for crab and was mystified and peeved by the lack of butter warmers  . And the aspargus and hash browns sides were NOT good.

Reminds me of the time a friend from Houston came to visit and we went out for lobster. I ordered a lobster roll. He ordered the steamed lobster. He was quite surprised when it arrived and it was the whole lobster and it wasn't all broken apart for him. I said "welcome to New England...you pretty much know how to crack a lobster from birth." Apparently he'd only had what we call "lazy man's lobster" before which is all broken apart for you. Not here...you get a big, claw crackers, a pick and/or tiny seafood fork...oh, and don't foget the wet naps (aka handiwipes). You've got to work for your lobster.

Narcoossee's! popcorn::
Since it's at the Grand Floridian you know it's a splurge. But we did it during free dining last year and really enjoyed it! :cloud9:
