We will be arriving on my DS 5th b-day. I would like to order a cake for him. What is the best place for a child's b-day cake. I would like a place that has a good variety and won't cost all our food money for the week. We will have a car so we can go off property to pick it up, but I would prefer to have it delivered.

Publix makes really nice cakes -- we always got our birthday cakes there when we lived in Florida, and the price is reasonable. As long as you don't mind leaving the "world" to go out and get it, that's a good plan.

Which Publix is the closest to Downtown Disney? Does it have any other cakes than the ones listed on the website? ...more Disney themes

I don't know what you're looking for, but Publix has quite a few Disney theme cakes. Did you look through all of them on this http://www.publix.com/food/catalog/Bakery/DecoratedCakes/Kids/Home.do page? If you can't find one you like, you could always go to a party store & pick us decorations, then order a plain cake from Publix. Let them know what colors you want. We get all our cakes there. I don't know about the Publix(s) in Orlando, but our bakery is great to work with. They customize my cakes any way I want them. We love the special fillings, so I always order double filling, & I've never been charged extra.

PS: At the moment, I think the YC/BC pastry chef is making the nicest cakes on WDW property. You can place an order through private dining, but you need to be staying there or eating at one of their restaurants. Boardwalk Bakery allows pick-ups.
