Hey Everyone ... I am planning a family vacation for myself, my husband, my sister, brother-in-law & their 2 children. My brother-in-law will be turning 50 3 days after we get there and we want to have a great dinner for him. Where would you suggest we go? What can we get done specially for his birthday? Any perks for it being his birthday?

I think the perfect place is the 50's Prime Time at DHS. First, 50 is in the name and second, he was born in the era that the restaurant is decorated in, and the TV shows that are on the screen.

For your birthday, they will usually do a whole birthday song, cupcake and crowd participation. Usually, they will bring a birthday card and your server will get everyone in your section to sign it. A lot of people really got into the act with mine.

If you're not aware, the restaurant is themed like you're at Mom and Dad's place, and your server is usually a "cousin". Some of the folks who signed my card used the "cousin" name, too! The cutest thing was later in the day, when I was waiting for the family to come out of the Great Movie Ride and someone yelled "Happy Birthday Sharon" from far away. I thought who could that be, so I waved and he said "It's Cousin John and Sally from lunch!" So cute!

Anyway, I thought the theme was perfect for a 50th. Let the server know it's his 50th, and get into the spirit of things the whole dinner. Make him set the table, make sure he has a birthday pin, call your server cousin, eat your veggies, etc. Once they know you're really into it, they will hopefully make his birthday over the top (as long as that's what you want).

We will have a
6 year old girl
8 year old boy
28 years old (my husband)
31 years old (me)
38 year old (my sister)
50 year old (my brother in law)

I had a very nice birthday dinner at the Wave. They bring you a dessert to celebrate your birthday. Make sure he has a birthday pin. Just add that on reservation as a celebration. Everyone says "happy birthday" whenever you wear the pin.

50's Prime Time sounds perfect. I to will be celebrating my 50th. I turn 50 3 days before we arrive. DD turns sweet 16 2 days before and DD22 graduates from college the day before. Or would you do something else. We will also have the inlaws with us and DS24.

If you get a good "cousin" at 50's Primetime they will make it special. DH and I have the same Bday and our "cousin" had the room sing Happy Bday to us and we both got Bday cupcakes and cards from Mickey and the "cousin".
Be sure wear your "It's My Bday" button.
Your inlaws will love it.

What hotel are you staying at and what park will you be at on his actual birthday? This will help us pick for you!

Citricos! They make you feel like a king even when it's not your birthday. Plus the food is really excellent.
I've been there on my birthday, and other times when I wasn't celebrating anything. They always made me feel special and threw in a few extra treats so it's my go-to choice for celebrating a special occasion.

We are staying at the All Star Music ... and we don't have a clue yet where we will be on that day, we will work it around the restaurant really. We aren't going till September and are there for 12 days so don't mind moving things around since I'm the one organizing and planning it :D

I would definitely agree with the 50's Prime Time Cafe, especially for a 50th Birthday. It is a fun place, and they will be sure to make a special fuss based on the name of the Restaurant.
